Chapter 1
It is Monday evening and Annabelle is at her apartment having supper with her friend Rebecca, they are eating as they jazz to each other stories reminding themselves about their campus life too.
"By the way when are you planning to study your other course?" Rebecca asked
"I was planning to do it next or this year." She replied
"So are you going to study masters too at once?" She asked
“Yeah." She replied
"So which university". She asked
"My dad was suggesting I go and study abroad for the whole five years." She replied
"Five years thats really long." She replied but sad
"Yeah but nothing to do in fact they had put a condition that I should not get pregnant now until I am done with my studies because it will be had for me to study and look after the baby at once too." She replied
“Ooh then I support them so avoid getting pregnant." She replied but as they were talking,
Annabelle stood up and ran to the bathroom holding on her mouth and starting throwing up.
When she comes back after rinsing in her mouth, Rebecca looks at her asks, "Hey, are you ok."
"Yeah, I am ok." She replied
"But you are throwing up and you are saying you are ok." Rebecca says
As they are still talking, she runs again to the bathroom
"Babe you really need to go for checkup" Rebecca suggests
Annabelle was suspecting something but she did not tell Rebecca about her suspicions but the following day Annabelle went to the drug shop to buy a pregnant test and went to work at her father's hotel since she was the manager.
She went to her office and placed her handbag on the table then went to the restroom with the pregnant test, few minutes later she checked on the pregnant test and it was positive
"Oh my God I can't believe this if Dad finds out I am finished because I haven't even completed to study,” she said to herself
She went to her office picked her phone from her bag and decided to call Hector in order to meet up with him.
Her secretary came to inform her about the meeting she had at that particular moment.
She went to the conference room for the Meeting but most of the time in the meeting she was absent minded.
In the evening, she went to Hector's apartment and she reached there she knocked on the door and he opened for her
"Hey good evening dear" Hector greets
"Good evening to you too" she replies
"Whats the matter you look pale and worried?" Hector asks
Annabelle seats on the chair then Hector sits next to her putting his hand around her shoulder to ask her the problem
"I don't know how to tell you this but..." She said
"What is that, you are starting to scare me?" He says curiously
"Hector I am pregnant" she replies
"What!! You are pre pregnant" he replies in a flabbergasted tone
"Yes she replies he stands up shaking his head
"Whose baby is that?" He asks
"Which kind of question is that of course its yours" she replies
"No no no no that baby is not mine that baby is not mine." He replies her
Annabelle looks at him in a surprised way and becomes irritated at that Moment
"What! Did you just deny your child; you are really unbelievable I haven't been with another man except you... She argued angrily
"That child is not mine please just help me and go away from here and I never want to see your face ever again I don't know you, you don't know me that child is not mine I am really disappointed in you Anna." He said angrily and chased her out his apartment
"I am living but you will regret what you have done to me for the rest of your life and never come looking for me and my child Good bye." She said angrily with tears in her eyes. She went home and she continued crying with a lot of disappointment and disgust. Rebecca tries calling her but she does not pick up her call she decides to switch off her phone to think
She decided not to abort the baby, she never ate anything that night instead, she decided to go to sleep and in the morning she showered and never went to the office for three days then Rebecca came to visit her but she decided not to tell her at all because she knew she would tell her parents.
Two months later she went at the hospital for checkup at Mbarara hospital, she was called upon by the doctor and she went to his office.
The doctor called upon her and she entered the room so they had to do an ultrasound on her
"Well here is your baby and that is the heart beat then another heartbeat, She says
"A second heart beat that means I have twins...She says
"There is a third heartbeat and the fourth." She says
"What! I am having four babies," she says surprisingly
"And they are all boys, congratulations Annabelle" she says
Then she cleans her stomach and she tells her the instructions to follow during her pregnancy
However, she decided to tell her parents that she wanted to go somewhere to find a place to clear her mind and to visit some friend of hers too.
"Dad I have been thinking of going for vacation I have been having a lot of stress and I feel my mind is disorganized." She said
"What's the problem?" He asked her
"I don't know but I just feel that I have not been myself the past two months" She replied
There was silence then later her dad said, "Ok its fine, ok you can go and take as much time as you want and come back when you feel you are settled"
Then she thanked her dad and the following day she decided to find a place where she would go for her vacation then she decided to go kasese a place she knew no one knew her that much. The day reached for her to go and she bid farewell to her friends and family then got her car, drove to kasese the journey was long when she reached she called her parents and Rebecca to inform them. She spent the night in a cheap hotel and planned to look for an apartment to rent in but she also decided to call her elder brother Calvin and her young brother Mark whom she was so close to more than her other siblings, they were six children at home four boys and two girls.
The next morning, she woke up and stood at the window then the sunrays were shining on her face then she prepared herself then she went to have breakfast after she went to look for an apartment to rent in. It took her two days to find a good conducive apartment then she moved in.
Beside her apartment there was a woman who was kind hearted and was nice to her though she was very poor.
"Good afternoon Rose" she greeted
"Good afternoon to you too Anna" she replied
They sat down and started jazzing together for a while, they have to know each other but her husband chased Rose a day after from the house since he used to torture her a lot. Annabelle decided to stay with her in the same apartment, Annabelle had spent three days in the apartment she had moved in but they became really good
Friends with Rose, she was except two years older than Annabelle was.
She would receive calls from her friends and family but she had changed her numbers.
"Have you seen my sweater?" Annabelle asked
"Yeah, it's on your bed" Rose replied
"It's not there," she said
"Then I don't know where it is because that's where I last saw it" she replied
Then Annabelle went to look for it again and when she entered the house, the husband of Rose came and started beating her. Annabelle came out to save her and warned the husband for what he was doing. They entered the house and Annabelle told Rose that they were going to move out very soon and they went to look for a new apartment to stay in.
One week later in their new apartment it was in quiet location, they continued living normally and Rose would be able to go the market to sell the things she has like fruits, vegetables and chapattis that Annabelle used to make. They would earn enough money for survival and at Times they would not earn enough in week but still Annabelle received money from her parents.
"But Anna do your parents know that you are pregnant. She asked her
"No they don't know" she replied
"But why? She asks again
"I haven't completed my studies and if they dare find out I don't know what they can accept me to continue my studies when I have four babies to look after." She replied
What! You are expecting to give birth to four babies. She asked
Yes Rose and they are all boys. She replied while smiling
"Who is the father of the babies?” she asked
"He denied me and the boys." She replied with tears and anger in her eyes
"That's so sad that's why I was asking thinking that after birth I will live my sons to someone until it's the right time for others to find out." She replied
"What! Who?" She asked anxiously
"You will know after I give birth." She replied
Rose remained in suspense asking herself who the person was that Annabelle was going to leave her babies too. They were completing having lunch as Annabelle decided to go to the hospital for checkup since she was now four months pregnant. She went back home to meat Rose they decided to think of ideas how they would survive in the remaining time they were together.
Annabelle taught Rose how to use a smart phone, she also taught her on how to bake and other things and Rose taught her how to saw clothes plus how to dig and many other things. The following day came and they decided to go shopping
"Hey look at these shirts aren't they gorgeous." Rose said while smiling
"Yah they're check these out too" she replied smiling back
They picked different baby clothes and paid after they went home.
