Prologue

His breathing had picked up and his lungs were on fire. He was running through the woods, weaving his way through trees when something stopped him. A force so strong it felt like five hundred pound cinder blocks just fell on top of him. He flew back and hit the ground, struggling to breath. He was almost sure something was broken.

“Speak.” A voice demanded.

Nothing came out of the boy except labored breathing. He struggled to talk and couldn’t stand. He couldn’t fight off his attackers, he could only lay there, in pain and agony.

“I don’t think this is a fair fight.” A different voice spoke.

“Yeah, me either.” Another voice rang through the trees.

The attackers looked through the trees trying to find the disembodied voices.

“Over here!” A third voice rang out.

This voice was different, it echoed, coming in from all different directions. Then a loud shrill scream could be heard-the boy clasped his hands over his ears-making the attackers groan in pain and run off. Someone jumped down from a tree and walked over to the boy.

Picking him up, the person spoke, “it’s okay. You’re gonna be fine.”

The boy winced in pain and touched his side, blood was oozing out of a cut. Another person came up to the boy and examined him. The person was a woman, she was about 5 foot 8 inches and wore a soft smile.

“We’ll help you.” She told the boy, her smile growing.

He smiled slightly at her, wondering why four random people were coming to his aid. He wondered who screamed, whose voice echoed. Questions he got no answer to. The other three people stayed quiet as the woman fixed up the boy. When she was done, they helped him to their car and drove him to an area the boy was familiar with. He saw his parents, looking around frantically.

Right before he got out of the vehicle, a small choked apology and thanks could be heard. He ran over to his parents and the mysterious people drove off, never to be seen by the boy again.

Hi anabelle_hi,

I just finished reading your story "Blood Lust" and I loved it so much. Your writing is amazing, and I kept thinking how cool it would look as a comic.

I really loved the tense moment when Atlas was running through the woods, only to be slammed to the ground by an unseen force, it was so intense, I could almost feel the weight crushing him. And the mysterious rescue scene, with that eerie echoing voice and the shrill scream that sent the attackers fleeing, was incredibly cinematic. Both moments would translate perfectly into powerful comic panels, with dramatic lighting and sharp contrasts to capture the danger and mystery.

I’m a commissioned artist, and I’d love to draw your story into a comic/manga. No pressure though, I just think your work would look awesome in comic form.
