Chapter 1
A plane lands at the airport, and the passengers start to move out of the plane into the airport buildings to get their luggage.
A young Adonis man wearing a black jean, a grey turtleneck sweater shirt, and a black overcoat, wearing sunglasses, walks towards the entrance with his luggage, and he sees two people waiting for him, which puts a smile on his face.
"Brother, welcome back home." Her younger sister said with a big smile on her face as she hugged him.
"Hey, Tweety." He said this with a big smile on his face as he embraced her with so much love.
"Well back, sir." The driver said
"Hey Marcos." Kai's sister greeted him.
"Hey, Cassie." Marcos said he then entered the car to head home.
"Tweety, why didn't Bruce come along?" Kai asked
"Ooh, come on, don't act like you don't know who he is." She replied, rolling her eyes, and everyone chuckled.
Cassie was Kai's younger sister; she was a carefree, mischievous, and intelligent young girl.
Kai was a calm, introverted, and intelligent young man. Though his younger brother Bruce was a different case, he was a lazy, annoying, and troublesome young man. It was like trouble was his middle name; he always bickers with Cassie all the time.
They reached home, and everyone welcomed Calvin after being away for six years.
"Welcome back home, son." His mother, Natalia, greeted him as she hugged her son.
"Thank you, mom; I missed you all." He replied, then he saw his dad, Edgar.
"Dad."
"Welcome home, son." He replied with a smile on his face, and they hugged each other. They entered the house and sat at the dining table to have their lunch.
The moment was blissful, and you could feel the love they had for one another.
"Yooh bro." Bruce said
"So you finally remembered me." Kai replied sarcastically.
"Come on, brother, how can I forget you?" He said as he came that he wanted to hug him, but Kai put a finger on his chest to stop him.
"What do you want?" Kai said
"It's nothing, brother; he just wanted us to catch up on old times." I replied
"Old times, you say," Kai said to him.
"Yes, I know everything changed after the incident that happened six years ago, and it was a reason you left, but you have to move on; it wasn't your fault." Bruce said, and Kai's face changed instantly.
"I think I said too much; I should leave you to rest." He said that and left the room.
On the other end of the city, a small family was happily living in their small house.
Though the part they lived in was a slowly developing part of the city.
"Myla, my dear, can you head to the pharmacy and buy medicine for your father? It's almost done."
Her mother, Estella, said
"Ok mother." Myla replied
Then she went and got the money her mother had given her and left to go to the nearby pharmacy.
The medicine was quite expensive for them since their family wasn't that well off.
Her mother worked as a cleaner in people's homes, and her twin brother Myles was trying to look for a job, but it wasn't easy for him.
To pay their tuition for school, they had to work part-time jobs, as paying tuition for her two young siblings, Mia and Matteo, is also not easy.
Her dad was sick and suffering from lung cancer, but his health had been declining for the past two months.
Which was hard for them as a family.
She would make cupcakes and go sell them on the city roads, or she would supply them to someone's shop.
After coming from the pharmacy, she entered the house and went straight to her father's room to give him the medicine.
"Father, here is your medicine." She said
"Thank you, dear." He replied in a weak voice.
Myla left the room after helping him take the medicine and went back to baking her cakes.
"Wow, sis, they smell good." Myles said as he came back home from his job hunt.
He wanted to be a doctor, but he had yet to get a job.
"Welcome home; you seem to be happy today." She said
"Yap, and guess what happened." He said
"You've got a job." She said the first thing that crossed her mind.
"Yah, I will be working at one of the big hospitals in Manila." He replied with a lot of joy.
"Wow, congrats, brother." She said, "which hospital, though?"
"I will be working at Manila Doctors Hospital." He replied with a smile.
"That's great, and really, that's one of the best hospitals in Manila." She replied
"And I deserve a cupcake for that." He replied that he stole one and ran away with it.
"Hey, who told you to steal my cupcakes?" She yelled at him.
"I didn't steal; I just picked it." He replied as he ate the cupcake, then their mother came out of the bedroom, and Myles went to hide behind her.
"Mother, save me from your crazy daughter." Myles said as he faked fear.
"Who are you calling crazy?" She shouted at him.
Their mother just smiled at them and shook her head at their childish behavior.
"Just let him go; did you get a job?" She asked him
"Yes, mother, I did get a job at the Manila doctors hospital, and I will be starting tomorrow." He replied as he hugged his mother from behind.
"That's good, son; good luck then." She replied
"Thank you, mother." He replied as he pecked her cheek, then went to go to his room.
In the afternoon, around three o'clock, Myla went to town on the street to sell her cupcakes. It was the same time Kai was in town, moving around with his friend and assistant Marcos.
Marcos may seem quiet to others, but he can at times be a chatterbox.
They were touring the town together, and they happened to be stuck in a jam.
People kept passing by, and some people would try on Myla's cupcakes and then buy them. She had decided to put up samples for people to taste to attract them.
She may not have earned a lot, but she tried not to give up on her dream.
She also used the jam to go sell her cakes to people, and she happened to knock on the car window of Kai's car, and the window lowered, and then she happened to see the most adonis she has ever seen.
"Sir, please buy some cupcakes." She said calmly
"Are they healthy?" He replied coldly.
She was taken back by his question, and she was short of words to say.
"Sir, of course they are healthy and made with ingredients good for the body." She replied
"But you sell them on the streets; how sure am I that they have been exposed to germs or bacteria?" He replied
Myla felt she had been insulted, and she could not contain her anger.
"Sir, if you are not interested in buying, just say so." She replied and decided to live, but his next words made her stop in her tracks.
"So is this how you do business? You want my money or, let's say, my support to buy your cakes, but I just asked you a simple question and you are angry. How pathetic." He replied in a cold manner, didn't give her a chance to say anything, and closed the window.
The cars started to move, and she was left there in shock at how unlucky she was.
She went back to her stand and sat down on the seat she had.
In Kai's car, Marcos was not surprised at Kai's behavior.
"Hey, don't you think you were being hard on her?" Marcos said
"I was just teaching her business; such people can do anything for money." He replied
"Well, what if you find out? You are wrong; as the saying goes, never judge a book by its cover." He said to him, but Kai just kept quiet, and they continued touring the city as the day went by.
