Masked Pain
I hope there is a poem that resonates with you🫶
Masked Pain
On Alice Lane,
A lone, unseasoned damsel lived.
In a brittle, shackled home,
Shedding the darkest in a cold atmosphere
Her presence is like a slight flicker.
There for a second, gone the next,
Just like a fleeting dream attached to a train.
"Run away, my child",
Should be her theme song,
When contact is made,
She marks and avoids.
She wore vibrant masks.
She is not comfortable being barefaced.
Judgement among the crowd,
Would have her bowing down.
A dream to be at peace,
A vision of love for her and others,
A hope that hate would flee like a monkey on honey,
Unity should appear like dry feet at a spa day.
Empty souls thirst for her spirit.
Boil her, they did.
roasting her with nuts and treacherous insults combined,
No wonder she was burned with the pain of a dying dream.
She often looks for a sign of sunshine.
However,
It seems to shine for them, but not for her.
Wail after wail seeps out,
Night after night,
Unsettled was her mind.
Broken was her heart,
imagination like a seed with no water bearing.
Heaviness weighs her down like a lumpy sack.
Even then, she looks beyond for help.
She is no stranger to her thoughts.
Scary as they come,
She often tries to change them like she changes her clothes.
A fighter exists in a timid soul.
A tiger ready to battle with an unstable trigger
Just like the wind knocks at her window,
Her dream will come true.
It may not be now.
but someday.
