Summary

distress, danger, death. From a mundane perspective, danger is inevitable; those who are sturdy enough to dwell in an erratic society are the ones who embrace the fact that everyone can be imperiled by any peculiar method. That was Abc's credo: an independent twenty-three-year-old lassie who views distress, danger, and death as a cycle of her biography. As Abc was doing a particular diurnal drill of her life, she felt a thread of being perilous, subsequently becoming distressed as she vividly witnessed herself being in an excruciating state; a hopeless objective to escape an horrendous certainty that bawls danger and death. Nonetheless, Abc is doubtless aware of one occurrence: she is abducted and is placed somewhere she doesn't know. Her strong yearning to depart, get her freedom, and hunt the person behind her abduction has become a long-term goal as she desires more. Chaperone with Abc as she desperately battles for her life to withstand whilst putting an endpoint to the grievous massacre and to uncloak whoever implements the immorality regulations orienting slaughters of everyone who is inside the abyss of labyrinth. Chapter 1: The Art Of Abduction

“PERFECT...”

A monotone voice stated, delight is evident in his voice.

“Clear! Spectator 000 is gaining consciousness. Give me the syringe.”

I pulled myself to lift my heavy eyelids, aiming to open at least half of it so I can have a vision of my surroundings. I don’t know where I am, that’s a fact I know as of the moment.

“Isn’t this just so perfect?”

“Who knows.”

Another fact is that I am the only one who is inside this room. Of course, I am aware now that I am still alive after that... that... what?

What really happened? I don’t remember.

Maybe I should call it an incident? Perhaps I am in a hospital, got bumped by a car? Or maybe I decided to suicide, or was I got robbed and stabbed? How about pointing a gun in the temple and viola, I am now in heaven? Then I guess San Pedro is here to take my soul, with his companion.

Just thinking of it makes me snicker mentally. Am I that naughty that San Pedro needs a staff to assist me on the way to the gates of Heaven?

Mmm...

“Just so flawless in executing your ideology, Maco.”

“Absolutely and precisely legit, Mistress.”

Another voice butted in.

I tried to lift my hand to look for something to support on but a frosted, amorphous solid, hard and brittle substance embrace my hand; it was way too cold. Alright, I am in a room where air-conditioning exists.

I’d like to sleep more in a room with such air-conditioning, it is something I can’t dispose of because it is warm but who am I joking? Even though I don’t know where I am, surely I am somewhere I shouldn’t be wisecracking at.

“Spectator 000, body movement detected.”

“This one is a bit tough. How about the others, Yeovi?”

“They are dozing soundly as planned.”

As I successfully intersected my paralyzed body—for I can’t move freely, I didn’t waste any moment and opened my vision, only for me to close it again as a blinding light greets my sight. It gave me a headache for some reason. Despite feeling a pain in my head to comprehend the happenings around me, with all my remaining energy and might, I opened my eyes forcely, having the urge to know where I could be.

“Distinguish eye perturb. Turn off the lights, Ryuki.”

“Maco... Are you really... just sure?”

“I am always doubtless in my decision making, Syei.”

A groan and sigh fed my hearing.

A v-line appeared in between my eyebrows as the room became dim. I am persuading myself that everything’s alright and I am just in a hospital but I am not that dumb enough to not understand they are talking about me.

I am not in a hospital. Another fact to add to my list.

“Have you considered my suggestion and she’s the one you’re planning to tandem with?”

“Who knows.”

I need to get up. I need to know who they are. What did they do to me and why... why am I in this situation?

“Involving such a notorious trope in perplexity... isn’t it unpleasant to see?”

“Oh...”

A sarcastic chuckled echoes.

“Ryuki, you’re in a dimension where that notorious trope you’re saying could be mixed in any variety. To sum it up, it will widen the regard, the audience to be exact.”

“But there are a crowd of few human beings that only craves for one type; especially conundrum, Mistress.”

“They are not such a heavy loss, Yeovi. I want to be clear; I do not want that notorious trope to dominate the knot. Just add a little spice, a little amour that surely the millennials, mostly our audience will seek at. Consider my abstraction, Maco. After all, the decision is yours. Gonna get going, I have some important errands to attend to before having our summer vacation. See you, team.”

There, a long silence invaded my hearing. Only the mistress’ footsteps that Yeovi called could be heard. I presume, they are still here, waiting for someone to crack the silence.

I groaned. I’m paralyzed! I am incapable of doing my desire to move, to get up. Think of something! You’re not dumb. Don’t joke about your situation. It’s not the time to start a party with a clown. My alter ego talked.

Fine. I exhaled deeply, resting my mind to bring up a solution that will help me.

On second thought, maybe I will just wait for them to end my life. That state, I won’t struggle. Welp, Imma just surely hunt them down using my soul. I mentally rolled my eyes to my sarcastic humor.

I am inside a glass. They are watching me. How can I think of anything if I am in this estate where the thing I can freely do is to breathe?

Oh, right.

If I am lost and unable to use my senses, I can still verbally talk. I could shout for help. Wait for the rescuers to help the damsel in distress.

I laugh. Is this the effect of their experiment of whatever shit they are doing to me?

“How about 000? I’m curious about 000. We have spectators 101. I thought we only need 100?”

“Mhm... don’t you think she’s a special guest?”

“I don’t think so. Maco...?”

That named Maco surely finds amusement and pleasure in his or her companions’ thoughts. He, she, is laughing again. I can’t guess their pronouns by simply hearing their voices. Whatever, I am not interested in them though. My goal right now is to just escape and report them to the authorities... if they will believe what a mere lady like me will spit about. Or perhaps they will label me as a person having or showing a severely disordered or abnormal state of mind. Then viola, I will see myself in a mental hospital. Though this place is way better, I can’t disobey such highest jurisdiction in giving this country a peaceful reign.

That’s not sarcasm.

“I praise and worship how I conduct my own art of abduction, Yeovi.”

“Ha... Art of abduction. You’re sick.”

“Whatever you counter, Ryuki. You’re still agreeing on the listed plan. Ah, my best friend.”

“Whatever you say, Maco.”

Huh... Abduction.

Another fact to add. Wish I had something that can record things so I can lead it to the government, at least I have proof. But yeah, whatever I say.

Well... They are a bit stupid and idiot. If they’re watching me move, they probably won’t talk like this. Are they intending to sprout their words for me to absorb?

As I totally see my vision clearly, it’s blank, empty, not having a light complexion.

“No offense. Are you all nuts? One of the spectators is awake. Don’t you think 000 is ears dropping now?”

Syei, you’re such a tease. I swallowed, trying to compose myself now that I can vividly see my surroundings. Ugh... why don’t they turn on the lights already?

“Let her. Telling you all, she’s a special guest. Take good care of her.” Ryuki... well yeah, a two faced lunatic. How dare I conclude Ryuki has such kindness and is different from others?

A special guest? I don’t understand. I can not remember what landed me here in such a situation. What made me lay here, in a non-crystalline, often transparent, amorphous solid that has widespread practical, okay, functional uses?

Right, I was abducted... for what exactly reason?

They are giving me time to regain my consciousness. I reach out the hem of the white blanket covering my blue plain t-shirt and slack to test my grip once again.

“Can you give us one clue about 000, Maco?”

You’re not interested in me, Ryuki, huh?

“99, 100.”

What...?

This Maco is a psychopath. 99 and 100 about me? Is Maco high? Perhaps he is.

I heaved heavily once again and attempted to push the mirror. It didn’t work. Maybe because my grip is too light? Ha... I gathered all the energy I collected before taking another attempt to open the mirror. But here goes nothing.

It’s a technical stuff. I need a remote, or a stuff that controls this glass to open.

“Fully gaining consciousness. 000 is tough.”

“Because you haven’t injected the syringe, Yeovi. Don’t be so dumb.”

“Maco’s fault.”

“She’s the first winner.”

“Who knows. She might have a tough antagonist too.”

“We’ll see.”

Okay, I accept my defeat.

“I... ids...” that’s not the best way to say idiot and provoke them.

“Oh... she’s speaking now,” I sense amusement in Yeovi’s tone. As if me, speaking, gives him, her, a spark she, he, can not forget.

“Should I turn on the lights?” Yup, that’s a great suggestion so far, Yeovi.

“If you wish to give her the full privilege, go on, Yeovi. You know how I trust you and your inventions,” said by Maco. You see, I know their voices well.

“WHAT? ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS, MACO?!” it was Ryuki’s voice, yelling out of his lungs. Is he afraid that I might remember his or her face and report them to the authorities?

“On second thought...” Maco pauses. “Come here, Yeovi.” His monotone voice commanded. I don’t know what’s next. Are they whispering to each other now? I can’t hear anything.

“Okay...” Yeovi just stated, my forehead creased. What okay? Are they now planning how to evict me?

“Let’s go, Ryuki, Syei. Let Yeovi do his job.” There, footsteps slowly moving forward was the only thing I could hear.

“What a puppets,” I heard Yeove mumble. Yeovi’s a he. Now, I am starting to get goosebumps thinking we’re the only two left in here. I am getting assumptions on what he is going to do. Oh my goodness.

“I’ll let you wander for a while, lady. Hmm? Feed yourself well with the things you can see because after this...” I didn’t hear him, he whispered to himself again! This ass...!

For a moment, I thought I was in heaven. Yeovi turn on the lights mayhap. A mirror welcomes me; the glass I am currently lying down mirrors my face. Wow, I am such a beauty. Why did I end up here? Kidding aside, it reflects my face. I tried to tilt my head, and I did.

I did not waste any time, I looked at my surroundings. My mouth hangs open as I see tons of people with the same situation as I am.

What are these? People. Human beings. Are they still alive? What are we? Prisoners? This is not funny anymore. Am I still dreaming? Is this for real?

Oh come on... I pinched my pulse to check if this is reality but fuck, I AM HURT WITH THE PINCH I MADE. I exhale deeply. This is not happening...

My anxiety started to build up when an opening door invaded it. What?

I immediately look at the sound, only to see a closed metal door as it syncs with the opening of the mirror where I am located. So Yeovi and Maco’s plan is not to rape me? But actually... DAMN, BOYS!

With all the fallen strength I retrieved, I forced myself to sit. Fuck headache. I need to get out! I need to escape this... whatever place is this!

“F... fork!” I tried so hard to recover my voice. But those tiny tones are not what I am expecting.

But okay.

I hold the glass to put my remaining strength on it as I go down this glass bed. I need something to write. Paper... Paper... I need a paper. I roam my gaze, not minding the corpses or these people, to find a piece of paper so I can take note of this. That’s the only ace I hold.

Fate does not wish me luck. All I can see is the ballpen. Not bad. I walked and reached for it, together with my falling knees. This is it. You can do this.

Because it took me time to realize that I do not remember anything. I do not know who I am. I do not know myself. I do not know what my name is. I don’t know if I am a human, or a sort of alien. If I am still on Earth, or aliens already dominate our world.

But I am sure of one thing.

They injected me with a syringe whose purpose is to delete someone’s memory. As I said, I don’t know where I am. And I mean by that is... nothing for now is impossible.

With all my shaking fingers, I managed to hold the ball pen properly. I lifted my palm and wrote down whatever I needed to know after this because for sure, they will give me that chemical. I will lose my memories once again.

I shrieked when the door opened, together with the lights that were now turned off. I stiffened when I heard someone breathing in my back. Who is this? Will this person now kill me? I tremble and try to speak. “Who... Who are you?”

I did not lower my guard, I am still sensing his or her movement.

“Is that what you really needed to ask?” it questioned, it’s a baritone voice so I presume, it’s a male.

“N... Noh!” I seconded. Come on... Work with me! “I... ha... Where...” I can’t... There is no tune to voice out. I am lost of voice.

He then grabbed my pulse. THE SYRINGE! I can feel it!

“Hmm... Where are you?” Chuckles...

I can feel the midst of losing my consciousness as it slowly pushes the syringe on my pulse, but before anything else. I am sure of the phrase I heard.

“Just call me Magnus. You are here, Abc, somewhere. Somewhere in the abyss of labyrinth.”

How I wish I could remember it.
