Chapter 1

As usual, I woke up for school, ate breakfast, and out the door. As always, I met my best friend at the bus stop; waiting for the bus to show up. The bus showed up. I picked up my bag to get on the bus when all of a sudden, my best friend grabbed my arm. She looked at me. Wide eyed. Something I haven’t seen her do before. She looked so scared. So, I turned around and questioned why she’d stopped me. She told me “Look carefully.” I turned around again and looked at the bus carefully. All of a sudden I was seeing what she was seeing. I was seeing her soul. I jumped back so fast.

I watched how I saw everyone’s soul, screaming for help as if they were trapped under someone's magic. The bus drove away. I looked at my friend again and noticed she was still scared. We decided to go home and skip school for the day. When we both reached home; I told my mom that I was going upstairs. I went upstairs, to my bedroom, and looked out the window. I noticed something outside. It was the bus we saw. It was parked right outside our house. I watched until it did something I least expected. The bus driver looked up at me. I would more likely say Starred. It was like he was looking at my soul. Being frightened, I just closed my curtains. I took a deep breath and pretended I saw nothing. Slowly walking downstairs; I saw my mom making lunch. My face brightened. I ran to her and gave her a hug. When I looked up at her face, my heart dropped. My mom. Her eyes. I pulled away from her arms so fast, I think I probably hurt my bone. My mom just stared at me; so very lifeless. I didn’t see her bright, warm, smile she gives me when I hug her. It was just a lifeless mom. As overwhelming as this is; I ran upstairs as fast as I could. There. I open my curtains. Luckily the bus was still there. When I looked more closely though, I saw my mom. On the bus. Her soul. Everything. I started to cry. While I was crying; I felt something underneath me rumbling. I looked down and all of a sudden I saw a huge hand. Could be bigger than my dad’s hand. The hand grabbed me. I started to squirm, scream, and do everything, so someone could hear me. No one did. Then at that moment, I was pulled under…
