Chapter 1
Stacy, Charles, Roy, and Nora, the college friends, embarked on a memorable adventure on Nora’s last day at college. Determined to make it an exciting night, they decided to explore a spooky place. Charles, driving the car, and Stacy, sitting beside him, had loud music blaring from the speakers. However, Nora couldn’t shake off her fear, as the place they were heading to was rumored to be cursed, with stories of anyone entering it meeting an unfortunate fate.
“Nora, don’t worry. It’s just an old house, and exploring it will be fun,” Stacy reassured her friend, dismissing the local urban legends.
Though Nora tried to convince her friends otherwise, their enthusiasm prevailed, and she reluctantly joined them. Deep in the forest, the group encountered strange occurrences. The car’s radio channels started changing on their own, even after Charles attempted to reset them.
“Damn it, what’s wrong with this audio system? It keeps reverting to the same channel,” Charles grumbled.
“Never mind, Charles. We’re in the middle of the forest. It could be a signal issue. Just turn it off,” Stacy suggested, disregarding the eerie incident.
As the radio fell silent, the group noticed the absence of the usual sounds of nature. It was as if all living beings had evacuated the area, leaving them in an uncanny silence. They continued along a narrow pathway, with tree branches scraping the car’s rooftop. After a tense ten-minute drive, they reached an opening—a vast clearing with a house situated in the middle.
The house appeared average in size, its rooftop obscured by overgrown branches and leaves that seemed to penetrate the building. Strangely, the house emanated a haunting red glow, shrouding it in an otherworldly aura. Although the structure seemed dilapidated, it remained upright, as if it were somehow alive. The group stepped out of the car, their gazes fixed upon the eerie sight. However, Nora couldn’t shake off the feeling that they were not merely standing before a house but rather a forbidden graveyard, a place where the living were unwelcome.
“Charles, look at this place. It’s incredibly spooky. Our pictures from tonight’s adventure will make us famous,” Stacy exclaimed, excitement in her voice.
“You’re right, Stacy. We should record everything and show it to everyone. Roy, you’re in charge of capturing footage of the house,” Charles instructed.
“Sure, but I can’t help but wonder where this red light is coming from. The house hasn’t had electricity for 30 years,” Roy pondered aloud.
The group shared the same curiosity about the mysterious red light, considering the house’s prolonged abandonment. Despite their concerns, they set up their recording equipment and prepared to explore the house. Nora’s apprehension grew, but she couldn’t bring herself to abandon her friends on their last night together. She didn’t want her fear to spoil the occasion.
As they approached the house, the red light flickered and abruptly turned off. Startled, they paused momentarily but eventually pressed forward. Upon entering the house, the red light reappeared, illuminating their surroundings.
“What on earth is happening? Is this house truly haunted?” Charles exclaimed, his voice tinged with both fear and excitement.
The group found themselves inside a mysterious place, where the line between the living and the supernatural seemed blurred. The flickering red light and the foreboding atmosphere added an air of mystery to their adventure. Little did they know that their exploration would uncover secrets and horrors they could never have imagined, forever changing their lives.
The air inside the house felt heavy and stagnant as if it hadn’t been disturbed in years. Cobwebs hung from the ceiling like ethereal tapestries, swaying gently in the still air. The once elegant chandelier dangled precariously, its crystal ornaments shattered and scattered across the tiled floor. Dust-covered furniture stood as silent witnesses to the passage of time, their once opulent fabrics faded and torn. The walls, adorned with cracked and peeling wallpaper, seemed like they would crumble if someone stepped too heavily on them.
Charles was filled with doubts about exploring the house now. His voice shook with fear as he attempted to lighten the mood with a joke among their friends.
“Wow, this house really seems like it’s in desperate need of some renovation!”
Despite their initial apprehension, they all decided to explore the house as a team. Roy was responsible for capturing footage, while Charles would act as the host, narrating the story of the house. Stacy and Nora were there to assist with the flashlight.
They began their exploration on the second floor, as it was rumored to hold a room where the entire family had taken their own lives. Each step they took on the creaking stairs echoed ominously throughout the house. Finally, they reached the gallery outside the second floor, facing four rooms. On one side were two rooms belonging to their daughters, and on the other side was the master bedroom and a baby room, likely meant for an unborn child. The family had allegedly been involved in a cult, and it was believed that they had sacrificed themselves, including the unborn child.
Another rumor circulated about the elder daughter, who was said to be mentally ill. Instead of seeking professional help, the family turned to a priest who claimed she was possessed by a demon. It was a fateful night when she supposedly killed everyone with a hammer before hanging herself in the baby room.
As Charles narrated the story on camera, Roy captured every word. Stacy and Nora followed behind, their steps cautious and deliberate. When they reached the baby room, Charles pushed the door, which opened with a creak. The room appeared empty, save for a cradle, an armoire, a small desk, and a rocking chair. But as they entered, Nora suddenly felt as though someone was watching them.
“So, this is the room where ‘Crazy Lora’ killed herself,” Charles said, his voice echoing in the eerie silence.
Stacy, who was unfamiliar with the history of the house, asked, “Who was ‘Crazy Lora’?”
Charles paused for a moment, gathering his thoughts. “She was Stephen Jones’s elder daughter. The rumors claimed she was possessed by a demon and killed her family before taking her own life in this very room. It’s also said that her spirit haunts this house, seeking to harm anyone who enters.”
Stacy felt a chill run down her spine, struggling to comprehend how a 14-year-old girl could commit such a horrifying act against her own family, including her 10-year-old sister. She turned to Nora and suggested they check the master bedroom. However, Nora remained silent, standing before the window and staring outside. Stacy approached her cautiously, tapping her shoulder.
“Nora, are you alright? What are you looking at outside the window?”
Nora didn’t respond, instead turning around and walking out of the room. Startled, Stacy motioned for Charles and Roy to follow. They all hurriedly reached the backyard of the house, where they found Nora sitting under a tree. Her face was turned away, making it impossible to see what she was doing. The full moon illuminated the scene, allowing them to discern that she was digging her hands into the mud, seemingly in a trance-like state. Charles tried to intervene, but Nora persisted, digging relentlessly. It was then that they noticed the multitude of small skeletons buried in the mud.
Stacy couldn’t contain her scream, and Charles jerked back in shock at the grisly sight. Roy set the camera aside and used both hands to pull Nora away from the disturbing discovery. As Nora stood up abruptly, she darted back into the house, her mud-covered hands trailing behind her. The three remaining friends were left stunned, exchanging bewildered glances. They heard Nora’s agonizing scream echoing from within the house and wasted no time in rushing after her.
