"DEAR AMANDA CONELSON,
YOU HAVE BEEN APPROVED TO WORKING AT ... "SIGNCO". YOU BEGIN ON MONDAY, AT 7AM. THANK YOU!"
What?! I can't believe it. Not many people get into SignCo so easily. I've been waiting to get this job for so many years, it's always been my dream. 6 months ago, my mom told me to get a job. So I signed up for one. She told me this job specifically wasn't a good idea. Probably because mostly men work here, but I didn't care. Haha! look at me now Mom, a soon-to-be working woman.
It's currently 9:30 p.m. so I think I should go to bed. I turn off my lamp beside me, and close my computer. After this weekend, I'd be working an actual job! A good one, with amazing pay. As I drift off to sleep, I just picture the computer screen of me being approved.
Today is Saturday, and I'm going to start the day off great. I head out of bed and go to the bathroom. As I scramble through the bathroom drawer looking for my toothpaste, I realize I have none left. This is fantastic. Guess it's time to go to the store. I change my clothes and pop a piece of gum in my mouth temporarily. I put my long hair and a high ponytail, with the two front hairs sticking out. I look in the mirror and check out my outfit. Now now, I'm not going to say I have the best fashion sense. Just wait though, once I get paid from this job.. I won't have to worry about clothes ever again.
I grab my car keys from beside the door and head outside. As I'm walking to my car, I can see a suspicious man behind me through the re-view mirror. I started to freak out, so I started to speed walk. Shivers went up and down my spine as I tried to calm down. I guess I'm not too surprised though, this happens a lot in my neighborhood. Creepy guys, homeless men, and just plain old perverts. I'm 21! I don't need 65-year-old men grabbing my ass. I'm too young for this.
Quickly and safely, I made it inside my car and started to drive to the store. I was running out of gas so I pulled over to a crusty looking gas station. The windows looked like they hadn't been redone in years, and the paint was peeling off. It didn't look very safe, but my car tank was practically empty. I pull up to one of the pumps and started heading inside. There it was, again. I heard footsteps not too far from me. They sounded heavy, like it was a man with big boots walking. The steps were following me. I prayed in my head that it wasn't another creep. But I'm sure I'm getting my hopes up too high. I hate creepy perverts. I'm not entirely sure why they follow ME though...I know my fashion isn't that great, but I guess that doesn't mean I'm not pretty. I quickly head inside and let the door close for the person behind me. I went up to the counter and told the man how much gas I wanted.
"30 on pump 12 please." I say
"Alright, that'll be $42.99."
Damn. Gas sure is getting expensive. I pull out my wallet, unzipping it quickly. I grabbed a 50 and started giving it to the guy upfront.
With my hand reached towards the other mans, a guy behind me grabbed my hand with the money in it, and started to twist my arm. The worker was just stan there, astonished of what was going on. Is he serious!? What a wuss. I tried my hardest to push the man away, but he was far too persistent.
"LET GO!" I scream, trying to pull back.
I close my eyes, pulling and pulling. Until.. out of the blue the man stopped. I open my eyes to see a guy taller than me, with fluffy brown hair and hazel eyes. He had grabbed the man's arm and pushed him aside
"Are you all right?" He says
"I'm fine." I say, brushing myself off. I couldnt let him see that I was scared, even the slightest.
"I'm great!" I respond again, but with a smile.
"Are you sure? Look at your arm, it's all red..." he says, looking down on my arm
I'm kind of surprised of what the man did to me, and how it shows on my body. But no.. I'm fine! I'm a strong woman who knows how to handle herself.
"I don't even feel a thing."
"If you say so.. anyways, have a good day." He sighs, walking off with the man still in his grasp.
Hah. What was he going to do? Beat him up on the side of the street. I look at the cashier and shake my head. The guy literally just stood there.
