Banished

I reluctantly trudged away from my castle, and I was not happy about where things seemed likely to go from there…

They had allowed me to keep my crown (which I still had on my head), but only because the new king had a new and different crown on…

It wasn’t even a very epic looking crown, but I digress…

My name is king Pex, though the king part had now been stripped away, and so it was just Pex…

One of my advisors (whose name I don’t feel like repeating at the moment) betrayed me and got me banished from my own realm, and so then he became king.

And so being banished meant that I had to leave the realm (obviously), and so that was what I was now doing…

It was going to take me a while to leave though, since I would presumably be traveling on foot for the entire journey…

But a couple weeks of walking would probably get me to the next realm, and so then once I would reach the next realm I would be able to take refuge with my allies who lived there; and it was actually likely enough that I would be offered some sort of high position at the castle!…

And I was definitely going to accept that position at the other realm’s castle if it were to be offered!, because just because the current leaders in this realm were too unwise to want to utilize my skills didn’t mean that I was just going to stop using my skills!…

My thinking was then suddenly interrupted by a voice behind me saying, “Freeze!…” and I decided to freeze nervously because I wasn’t sure what else to do…

Then the voice said, “I’ve been sent here to assassinate you because the new king doesn’t want for you to be able to give anyone from another realm all of the secrets that you know about this realm.

And this is a top secret mission, of course, because if the general public knew about it then they’d be outraged because most people in the realm can tolerate you being banished but can’t tolerate you being murdered.

But if they don’t know that you’ve been murdered (and they think that you’ve simply left the realm) then what they don’t know can’t hurt them!…

Fortunately for you, however, I actually fall into the category of people who can tolerate you being banished but can’t tolerate you being murdered; and so my mission will not be completed.

This, of course, will lead to the new king lying about be and trying to have me killed; and so I think that the best move now is for us to both leave this realm as quickly as possible!…

And so I have the horse I’m riding with me, and I brought another horse for you to ride; and so you’re free to walk over here and join myself and these 2 fine horses at any time!…” and then I said, “Fair enough, I suppose…

And thanks for not killing me…

But I don’t recognize your voice, which begs the question of who are you?…” and then the voice said, “My name is Norah, and I was a part of the scheme to overthrow you, but I was always told that you’d be banished; and so now I’m going against the very person who I helped put onto the throne that I helped to kick you out of…” and then I said, “Hmmm…

It was very unwise for the new king to push you into disobeying his murderous orders; and so I suppose that I shouldn’t get too angry about the fact that you helped overthrow me, since it would seemingly be pretty silly of me to push away someone who is now an ally of sorts; and so I guess I’ll just take you up on your offer, and I’ll walk over there now and we and the horses who you brought with you can exit this realm as quickly as possible!…” and then I walked over to where Norah and the horses were at, and then Norah, the horses, and I were soon speeding away as quickly as possible from the king who would now want both of us killed…
