~/Chapter 1\~
The cool metal walls felt like they were closing in on me. I sat in the corner, crying. My brothers were asleep, I felt lonely. We were going to be released soon, placed with foster parents. The chances of being together were very slim, but I hoped that it would be a good family that would take all eight of us.
I felt sick.
I perked up. I heard a noise. In the vent. It was Jayden. He was the oldest of my brothers. He was muttering something. I scooched over to the vent.
“hey dude.” I stage wispered.
“Hey Lilly.” He whispered back.
“What are you doing still up?”
“I could ask you the same thing.”
“Nah, I asked you first.”
“Lady’s first.”
“And as a lady, I say that the man can go first.”
“Very generous of you, kind mis, but I insist.”
“How kind, but I must decline.”
There was a heavy sigh.
“Fine.” He sighed again.
“I had a nightmare.”
“Another one?”
“Yea this one was vivid, and…” he stopped.
“What is it, Jayden?”
“…Nothing, don’t worry about it.”
“No, Jade, tell me.”
“The dream was filled with dark images, it was pure evil.”
“Oh…”
“Yea.”
“Did you write in the notebook?”
“Yea, I’m writing in it now, I cant really remember most of it, but I remember scraps.”
“Well whatever you can get I guess.”
“I guess.”
“Have you had anny dreams like this before?”
“No, this is the only one.”
“Ok, am I being annoying?”
“A little.”
“Sorry.”
“No it’s ok, you just want to make sure that I’m good.”
“Yea.” Jayden chuckled.
“What about you, Why are you up?”
“Nightmare, again.”
“Same one?”
“Yea.”
“This is insane, you’ve had the same nightmare for more than a week now.” Jayden sounded mad.
“I know.” I muttered.
“God, Lilly, do the others know?” He ment my other brothers.
“No, I don’t want to concern them and you weren’t even supposed to know.”
“Right and I’m not to be a good brother.”
“Yea yea.” He laughed.
“You should go back to bed.” I said.
“I can’t, bad dreams”
“Lay down.” I ordered. I heard small shuffling, followed by a soft sigh.
“Little child. fall asleep, I’ll be here till the sun wakes up. The moon will have its fun, but then it will go to sleep. Time will tick. But you must dream a dream of soft clouds and sweets. Close you’re eyes, close youre mouth. You are destined for great things. yet to come. Fall asleep, the ideas will come. Fall asleep. Fall asleep. I’ll be here when the sun wakes up.” I repeated the song again. I heard a small sigh. Followed by a yawn.
Our mother sung that song when we had difficulty with sleeping. I only remembered a little, but it was enough for me and my brothers. Our mother had died when she gave difficulty giveing birth with our youngest brother, Danny. Our dad had died from heartbreak a few years later. I was 7 then, when dad died. I was 5 when my mom died.
I sat there thinking, hopeing. I fell asleep a little later.
