Arrival
Amira yawned and stretched her arms out in the sun, jacket fluttering in the breeze. Her phone buzzed inside her jean pocket and she took it out.
Esther Denmark

Amira answered the phone. "Hey, what's up Esther?"
"So I just heard from Gracie that Oakwood Hills Academy's acceptance rate went up by 10%! Are you gonna apply?"
Amira sighed and sat up, her orange butterfly wings fluttering the slightest bit. "I dunno, Est.. Oakwood Hills is a really hard school to get into, even if the acceptance rate has increased.."
"Aww, come on, Amira! I'm applying with Gracie and Nadi! You should totally apply! The entrance exams start in a couple of months, so you need to apply today before they close up."
"I told you, I don't know. Isn't Oakwood Hills a school for really smart and rich kids anyways? I'm not rich, Esther. You might be, but I'm not."
"But it only costs $40 to take the exam, and if you get accepted, all you have to pay for is the dorm which is $20, and the insurance for damage of school property. That's only $60."
"Well, let's go ahead and travel to another universe where my parents let me attend Oakwood Hills. Even if they have $60, they would never let me attend!"
Esther sighed through the phone. "What about your summer job savings?"
Amira blushed. "You, uh.. you saw those?"
"More like I saw you scrambling to get one place to another. Just use your savings, then boom, everything's paid for! Just don't damage school property."
Amira heard her mother calling her from inside. "Gotta go. I'll text you if I decide to apply."
"Kk. Bye!"
Amira ended the call and headed inside, stretching out her butterfly wings, her koi tail swishing. Her mother, Jemila, was serving food on the table. Her orange hair was ruffled and her lion ears were flattened. Amira put her phone in her jacket pocket and helped her mother serve food. "So, who were you talking to?" Jemila asked.
"Esther. She was asking about Oakwood Hills Academy, if I was gonna apply," Amira replied.
Jemila raised an eyebrow at Amira. "Well, are you?"
"I would if you weren't so protective," Amira muttered.
Amira's father, Hayden, walked in and ruffled Amira's hair. "The reason we're so protective, Amira, is because you and Tasia are our only children. We don't want you getting hurt."
Amira rolled her eyes. "Dad, I'm 16! I can handle living by myself for a few months."
Hayden tapped his chin. "Hm.. am I the only one remembering when you were babysitting Tasia and the house nearly caught fire?"
Amira put her hands on her hips. "I was ten years old! I'm a high school student now, I think I can handle it! I got 20 summer jobs to save up to buy something, why can't I use it to go to Oakwood Hills?"
Jemila sighed. "She's right, honey.. I think it might be time to let her go." Hayden sighed. "If it's ok with you, then it's ok with me."
Amira tilted her head. "So can I go?"
Jemila nodded. "You can go, but you have to promise to call and send pictures. Ok?"
Amira's face lit up. "Ok!" She hugged her parents.
After dinner, Amira headed to her room and pulled out her phone. She texted Esther "I can go to O.H.A.!!!!!", who responded with "yayayayayay!!!!!!!!". Esther sent her a downloadable pamphlet about Oakwood Hills that had all the info.
Applying for Oakwood Hills Academy? All you need to know is in this pamphlet! There will be three sessions, a tour(followed by a quiz on the school), a break, then a written exam that will take place for four hours. After that, you will be sent home, and you will receive a letter telling whether you did or didn't get accepted. Good luck, and I hope to see you soon.

Esther and Delilah, her mother, agreed to pick Amira up on the day of the exam because her parents had to work. Tasia would be fine because she would be at a friend's house. Esther invited Amira over a lot of times for them to prepare for the exams.
Soon, it was the day of the entrance exam. Amira couldn't sleep because of her jitters, so she was tired the next morning. She got up and pulled on a shirt and some leggings, pulling her lucky sweater on. She fluttered her wings a bit and swished her tail to try and wake her up, but it didn't work. She sighed and walked out the door to meet Esther. Esther was looking amazing as ever, her blue fur shining in the sunlight, and she was wearing the crop top Amira had got her for her birthday.
"Ready to go?" Esther asked. Amira yawned.
"I'm ready, but really tired," yawned Amira. Esther chuckled and walked Amira to the car. "I have a present for you." Esther handed Amira a coffee. "It should keep you awake through the exams."
"Thanks," Amira said, drinking the coffee.
They drove to the school, and it was huge, as big as two mansions, probably.
Delilah kissed Esther on the cheek. "I love you, Esty. Love you too, Amira!"
Amira waved at Delilah. "Thanks for the lift!" Esther walked over to Amira and held her hand so they didn't get lost among the big crowd of people. They made their way to the line and Esther pulled out her phone. "Say 'entrance exams'!" Esther took a picture of them and posted it on some sort of social media. "Do you mind if I post this picture?" Amira shook her head.
Soon enough, they were at the front of the line and getting registered. A woman with purple hair and bunny ears looked up at them. "Name?"
"Esther."
"Amira."
The woman nodded and looked for their names.
"Cash, credit, or prepaid."
"Prepaid."
"Cash."
Amira handed the woman her savings. The woman looked through the money and set them in a box. "Go to waiting room 5."
"Thank you," Amira and Esther said before walking to the waiting room. On their way there, a girl tripped them. Amira fell over, and Esther shouted at her. "Watch where you're going!"
The girl turned around, revealing ice-cold eyes. "Watch your mouth, girl. I am the principal's daughter, Kimberly Sarroid, and I have more power than you, so be careful if you get accepted into this academy." She had antlers on her head, and a long cat tail. There were fireflies floating around her antlers, which had glowing beads hanging off of them. Amira got up and Esther scoffed at her. "She's the principal's daughter huh? I'll teach her to not be snobby, once I get accepted, everyone's gonna like me and I'll shame her."
"Est, please don't do that.."
They made their way toward some seats and sat down next to a girl with emerald eyes and fox ears. Amira wrapped her scaly koi tail around herself while waiting. That's when they heard a voice echo through all the waiting rooms.
"PLEASE MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE MEETING PLACE OF THE FIRST SESSION!"
