The Miasmic one

Jonathan Rattley was a normal twenty-three year old blue collar working man with normal habits. That is if eating an onion, sardine  mustard, mayonnaise, peanut butter and jelly sandwich with three slices of cheese three times a day every day Is normal. Even with these strange eating habits he was completely one hundred percent healthy. No one truly understood why he would do something like that but no one cared because he was an alright employee, a good guy and never got into trouble. Jonathan himself assured everyone that he was so healthy due to the fact that he always ate wheat bread but no one actually believed that statement. One day while Jonathan, Ross, Jenny, and their boss Ronald were in the office that stood on the tenth floor the entire office was enveloped in a disgusting nausea inducing.

"What is that awful smell?" Jenny asked as she covered her nose.

"Where is my lunch?" Jonathan asked seemingly rushed and slightly frightened.

"Is that what that smell is?" Ross asked jokingly.

"Get back to work now." Ronald asked in a disinterested voice.

"Seriously, where is the sandwich, guys?" Jonathan asked, obviously panicked.

"You check the break room?" Jenny asked, attempting to be helpful.

"Of course I checked the breakroom." Jonathan snapped back.

"She was just trying to help Jonathan." Ross said seeing Jonathan was getting angry.

"Get back to work now or you're all fired." Ronald said in a bored tone. Ronald suddenly screamed as he fell to the ground and held his chest.

"Boss?" Ross yelled as he ran to his side and attempted to help him up.

"Ronald, oh god, I'll call an ambulance." Jenny yelled frantically as she took her phone out and dialed the number. No answer, no ringing, absolutely nothing.

"My phone is not working." Jenny said, looking at Ross and Jonathan for some ideas. Ross quickly took his phone from his pocket and dialed a number. Nothing.

"Shit, my phone isn't working either apparently." Ross said as he put his phone back in his pocket.

"Oh no, oh no, oh no." Jonathan whispered over and over again.

"Jonathan…" Ronald said in a voice that was not his own. The voice was cracked, almost distorted like white noise.

"Oh thank God boss I thought you were-" Ross began to say before he was suddenly cut off as Ronald's arm pierced him through the chest. Right as Ross drew his last breath the blinds were loudly pulled closed by an invisible force the same invisible force then locked every exit in the office.

"Ronald…" Jenny said quietly as she slowly approached him, hands in the air as a show of peace.

"Jenny." Jonathan yelled before he ran to the manager bathroom inside of the bosses office.

Jenny quickly followed him. Ronald simply watched, smiling as he did. Jenny and Jonathan stood in the bathroom.

"What in the… how… why would Ronald do that to… oh fuck… Ross." Jenny struggled to speak as she bawled loudly while using the sink to clean blood that splashed on her new top.

"That wasn't Ronald." Jonathan said obviously knowing something.

"What?" Jenny asked stopping her cleaning long enough to look at him for an explanation.

"Three years ago I met a man who told me he had a friend of a friend who had an uncle who was neighbors with a warlock with the powers of hell at his fingertips. I went to this warlock because I was poor and homeless at the time. The warlock said that he needed to sign one more friend up with a demonic deal to be able to pay off his debt."

"So demons have payment plans" Jenny asked, interrupting him thinking it was some sick joke.

Jonathan simply continued saying, "He set me up with a lesser demon known as The Miasmic One. I asked for one hundred million dollars and in return I was forced to eat an onion, sardine  mustard, mayonnaise, peanut butter and jelly sandwich with three slices of cheese three times a day every day for the rest of my life."

"Why are you here If you were a millionaire?" Jenny asked, pointing at him in an accusatory manner.

"Shit is expensive these days." Jonathan said, brushing off the question.

"What keeps him from just coming in here?" Jenny asked, glancing at the door.

"He can't enter bathrooms for some reason." Jonathan answered, speaking as if it should be obvious.

"Did it possess…"

"Yes." Jonathan said sadly before Jenny was even finished speaking. They stood there for a moment before Jenny spoke up.

"What exactly does he want?" She asked worriedly.

"Me, I broke the deal. He is now owed my soul. He just came to collect." Jonathan said as he broke down in tears.

"He's after you?" Jenny asked angrily.

"Yes." He said crying even harder as he did. Jenny simply walked out of the bathroom with this knowledge. Jonathan stood there he knew she wouldn't be back. He was alone now. Jonathan sat on the toilet alone but safe but then something happened. The door to the bathroom slowly opened.

"H- h- hello." Jonathan said in a shaky cowardly voice.

"He's gone." Said Jenny as she stood at the door.

"oh thank god." Jonathan yelled overjoyed as he ran out of the bathroom. He took one step out of the bathroom and caught a nose full of the most foul and rancid smell in all of the world. Jenny grabbed Jonathan and quickly shoved him to the ground.

"Why?" Jonathan asked as he saw what was once Ronald walking towards him.

"The demon told me if I give you to it, it'll give me what I truly want. Simple enough deal really." Jenny said as she looked at the demon in Ronald's body.

"Hello Jonathan." It said as it grabbed him and lifted him up by the neck.

"It wasn't… my… fault." Jonathan said through the gasps for air.

"I'm sure it wasn't." The demon said as it shook its head and chuckled lightly.

"My deal?" Jenny asked politely.

"Once I'm gone completely." The demon said before running and jumping out of a window down to the concrete beneath Jonathan still in hand. Jonathan screamed loudly as the ground opened up into a pit leading directly to hell and he and his new owner fell in. The pit quickly vanished from existence.

As soon as the demon and his new property vanished something else appeared. Ross and Ronald, perfectly restored and prepared to fulfill Jenny's wish.

They both immediately bowed and began to chant, "You are our queen! We love you! We belong to you!"

"I like this wish." Jenny said as she looked at her two new favorite playthings.
