Chapter 1: "Is Somebody There?"

Nemura Coast - Daughter of Oizys

Iris Rocchè - Daughter of Khione

Camp June was a place for the demigod descendants of Greek gods and goddesses. In the Camp, there were only two demigods so far; Nemura Coast, the daughter of the misfortune goddess, Oizys and Iris Rocchè, the daughter of the snow goddess, Khione.

“The next task for you two demigods is to just practice your powers a little more and then you can go eat your lunch.” Chiron said, with a nod to make sure we were paying attention.

“Okay, Chiron.” Iris said, tugging me along with her.

“I don’t want to use my power..” I said, trembling a bit.

“Why not? If you don’t use it more, you aren’t going to improve.” Iris said, patting my shoulder.

“I know that, Iris. But I think I need to leave this place.” I said.

“What’s bothering you that’s out there? What do you see?” Iris asked me.

“I feel like something’s watching me, a possible someone. I often see someone standing in the woods staring at me.”

“Oh.” She said, looking at the ground. I turned around to look at the woods again and I saw the same figure again.

“Nemura, you’re trembling-” Iris said, tapping my shoulder.

“See… Right there..” I said, pointing out towards the figure.

“Oh my gods! You weren’t kidding..” Iris said, trembling a bit herself.

“I need to find out who that is. Not now, but soon.” I said.

“Nemura, isn’t that dangerous? Shouldn’t we tell Chiron or somebody about it first?” Iris questioned.

“No, they’ll look and see nothing and then say we’re crazy. I’m not going to let this continue on..” I said, determined to find out who this guy is.

“I don’t want you getting hurt and you’re just going to danger yourself wondering out there ALONE!” Iris yelled, shaking me back and forth several times.

“I know, but I know that I’m not going to be alone.” I said, putting my bag over my shoulder and I started to walk towards the entryway of Camp June.

“NEMURA!” Iris yelled, creating a sheet of ice below me, causing me to fall.

“You can’t do this! It’s dangerous!” Iris told me, smacking me in my face.

“I HAVE to, Iris. I need to find out who this person is and what they want from me. They’ve been watching me for who knows how long.” I told her, getting up and trying my best not to fall while walking out of Camp June.

I walked towards the woods and the person still stood there, he had brown hair and a vibrant orange shirt with a black, wrinkled jacket. I got a bit closer and the person started to run, I ran after him but after a while I had no luck on finding the person.

Heika van Walderveen: I had to get used to the style. It’s a lot of switching and getting back into the story of the characters. Also the different timelines were a bit confusing in the beginning. But once you’re used to it, it’s really quite original. The plot is good, but it’s only book 1 (out of 3), but so far so good...
