Harper
StartMountain of Cantamas
Cantamas is a famous land in the southern area. It is built with different mountains and a village, and people believe that behind those mountains hides a secret to great power, a power that is only possessed by the half-human breed of wolves.
"Anika, I told you not to look at them like that!"
"But mother, why are they helping us if they are not like us? They are animals."
"They may seem, but they have feelings and understandings like us humans"
"Can I be their friend?"
"Of course!"
The girl, filled with a smile, runs towards the working wolves, she hugs them and plays with them while helping the villagers in their everyday life until a group of people wearing black capes burn down the whole village and kill the people one by one. The pack of wolves start to get angry and help the villagers, but they are not able to win because of being a simple animal that can easily be killed until the girl prays for the God and Goddesses to give them help.
The sky begins to move and a white light drops and wraps the bodies of the wolves. In just a minute, they all fall to the ground in the same image as the humans, but their eyes reflect the eyes of the wolves.
With undeniable strength and speed, they quickly destroy the black cape troupe; others run and escape for their lives.
Confusion shows on their faces; they cannot believe that they are now humans like their masters who have now died from the attacks. Only the little girl, Anika, remains alive.
The Alpha Wolf carries Anika, wearing the same clothes as the remains of the dead humans. They start acting and moving like one and the pack starts to travel away from the land thinking that the people in black capes will return.
A few years had gone by and Anika was already at her right age. She manages to lead the half-human packs of wolves who help her and take care of her, and the Alpha wolves, as her rightful assistant, help her build a small village. They adopt people and kids who have no family or place to live until they start to become large in numbers.
Meanwhile, Anika, who prayed with the Goddesses, remains in contact with them. They give her commands on what to do in spreading goodness to every human. Also, beyond those tasks, the Goddesses give her a very important message that will change her life and the half-human-wolves.
"Anika, you are chosen to be given a certain power that will fulfil what is needed to happen within the lives of the human and half-human wolves. You must give them names, abilities and statuses. They must live with dignity as they are destined to blend with all the humans in this world. Only these certain packs that we have allowed living as humans are the baseline of all half-human wolves that will be born in the next era."
"Will there be another set of them?"
"There is. One to another and then another until the next prophecy will be told. For now, do what we command, give them the constancy of appellation"
"And what is it?"
"Lycans, the half-human wolf living with dignity and power"
"What you command is what I shall follow; I will forever honor your gratitude."
"You will start as the moon starts to shine"
The goddess said and then disappeared into Anika's eyes.
As the moon shines, Anika starts the great evening with the expected deliverance of the command and the line of Lycans starts to spread and be known by the lands and nations.
TAMASHORE VILLAGE
"Too...too...toot..."
The alarm from the cell phone rang, making Harper fall from the bed.
"What the fuck!? Who set this alarm!? Mom?"
Harper shouts while managing to get back to bed and tries to get back to sleep, but her mother suddenly appears at her door.
"Sweetie, you still have one hour to prepare for school?"
"What school—"
She suddenly gets up realizing that it is Monday today and she has a 7 am subject to catch. She checked the time and it is already 6:15 am.
"Why didn't you wake me up at least one hour to seven? I will be late again!"
"Like you said sweetie, again, means it is supposed to be your responsibility! And I didn't know your class was at 7. You usually attend class at 8!"
"I don't have time to explain mom! I need to hurry!"
Harper then tries to wash her face and body, uses the toothbrush and then fixes herself in a fast phasing movement and then leaves.
She almost runs the long road of Gemini Street going to school, being in junior this year, she promises to make good grades this time though having a 93% of average grade, for Harper is not enough.
The moment the bell rang, Harper managed to get to the gate of Mammot-Farrel High school and upon entering she ran directly to her room where the professor of her first subject had just arrived.
"Oh god! I am not late! yey!"
She said, smiling widely, sitting in her designated chair, she put down her bag and then got her notes and textbook when, suddenly, a wind embraced her face and touched her skin, the feeling of sudden air around her body as she looked at the window where a tall, brown-eyed guy was now looking at her.
Her eyes widened seeing the handsome face of the guy, she seemed to just fantasize for a moment while its majestic eyes. They were buried in her.
"Damn! What was that?"
She was cut from mumbling when another two pairs of brown eyes now looking straight at her, tall with long black hair now standing in front of her, she quickly stands up when she hears her professor calling her name.
"Yes ma'am!"
"I said Ms Mammot was going to sit beside you"
"Oh! Sorry! I was...I mean I didn't hear it, sure have a seat"
She then removes her bag and then lets the girl sitting beside her, she is so confused about what she just felt, and she almost drops her body when this girl suddenly appears in front of her.
"Why do I suddenly feel that? It seems something just entered my body and I almost passed out for no reason, or maybe the handsome guy I saw had this kind of impact on me! Oh god! I need to get his name!"
"—poor girl"
Harper was cut from mumbling when she heard a little whisper from the person beside her. She is not sure about what she mumbles but she knows it comes with the word girl.
"Yes? You are talking to me?"
She smilingly asks but the girl just ignores her as her eyes are just nailed to the window, and seems to look for someone outside.
Instead of talking again, Harper decided not to mind her and just listen to their topic.
A few minutes passed and the first subject would end. Harper quickly stood up and was about to head to the washroom when suddenly the girl beside her stood up as well and quickly hit her back with its elbow as she was walking toward the door. Harper almost fell to the ground when, in just a second, a two-arm caught her that stopped her from falling.
A quick closing of her eyes is the only thing she does, so when she opens them, she is now staring at the face of the long black-haired girl who causes her to fall.
Confusion is all over her face, she is really sure that the girl is already near the door, so how come she catches her at that distance?
"T-Thank you, hmm that was fast!"
She said, but the girl just looks at her weirdly and drops her to the floor when she seems to see someone outside.
"What the hell!? Damn her!"
Harper silently burst out and then looked at the girl who was running outside as she nailed her eyes at her she saw her run after the guy she had seen earlier, she is wondering if the two are a couple because the girl seems to smile after seeing the guy which earlier it didn't even throw a look or smile at her.
"Bitch!"
Harper mumbles, looking silently at the girl from a far smilingly talking to the guy when suddenly throws a death glare at her that makes her head turn away.
She is now confused if she is heard, though it is impossible because she is far away to be heard.
Harper quickly walks out of the room and then manages to go to her next class. She still can't believe why on earth those two seem weird though very good-looking people.
She just heads to the cafeteria to get some snacks and be ready for her next subject. The tuna sandwich says it all and a cold chocolate milk drink, while walking back to her next room, a raging ball that is going to hit her when a masculine physique in front of her suddenly appears and quickly catches the ball with one hand.
Staring at the handsome face of the guy she just saw earlier with her weird new female classmate.
Due to the intensity of the scene, she slowly steps back a little when her classmate holds her shoulder from behind. That made her confused again.
"T-Thank you"
Harper said, still staring at the guy who gave her a simple smile.
"Welcome"
The guys said and then faced Harper in slow motion while Harper looked behind her and spoke.
"Hey thank you as well."
Harper said, but the woman just stared at her without any words coming from her mouth, she just moved away from Harper and walked toward the building.
"Don't mind her, she is just like that. My twin is not a people person but I am, anyway, I'm Artemis."
"I'm Harper, hmmm you and her are twins? Wow!"
"Yes, no one wants to believe it because we are fraternal."
"I see, well, you are a much way better talker than her."
"That is new. At the house, she seems to be the one who says a lot and not me."
"Oh, maybe that is how you are both unique to each other."
"Maybe...hmm I guess you should go now. Your class starts at 15"
"Oh shit! Yeah! Thank you! Hmm, see you...later?"
"I will be around"
He said with a smile that faded when Harper left, something was within him the moment he talked to Harper and he never felt it with anyone, which led him to one very important conclusion.
As Harper enters the room, obviously she is almost late for this class and so she quickly heads to a vacant seat when she does not realize that she is sitting next to Artemis's twin sister again.
She tries to smile at her but, same as usual, she is being ignored, which makes her roll her eyes at her.
"Well, she is way not so friendly as her twin brother! Geez!"
Harper whispers to her mind and then just sits quietly.
The class started and Harper put all her attention on the topic. She was really sure to get good grades, especially when the professor announced a surprise quiz.
Harper believes that she will excel and get a better score than anyone in the class, so the quiz begins and a confident smile draws around her face.
The quiz takes fifteen minutes and everyone exchanges their paper with the one sitting next to them so they can check their paper without cheating.
Harper smilingly gives her paper to Artemis's sister, but she realizes that it is not a good idea, so she instead gives her paper to the person in front of her.
The professor starts to give the right answer, one number at a time, and a smile forms at Harper, confident that she will get a high score.
"Alright, now get back your paper and give me a paper with a high score."
As the perfect score was being asked, no one stood up but when, next to the highest, which is 19 out of 20, was being asked, Harper proudly stood up and passed her paper and then continued to the next number and so on until it reached the lowest score, which is 10 below, so the professor did not ask for each number anymore and just let all the paper pass to her.
Artemis's sister is one of those who pass the paper that is below 10 and Harper just looks at her and then smiles within, she thinks that finally, she feels much better than her who acted high on her.
After the quiz, the class ended, so everyone stood up to leave when the professor suddenly spoke
"Ms Arkisha, you got the perfect score but why didn't you pass this earlier when I asked for it?"
Harper's eyes are now in shock hearing those from their professor; she slowly turns around and looks at them.
Arkisha didn't answer the question and just remained standing in front without any words.
"Fine! Next time do not confuse me because I am evaluating all of you here on this subject, okay?"
Arkisha just simply nods at the professor and then moves herself, going to the door, and walking past Harper, who is now frozen in her position. She throws a look at Arkisha and she even gets silenced when she gives her a smirk and whisper.
"Too early for victory!"
Arkisha whispered, which made Harper speechless; she couldn't believe what she had just heard.
"Did she just insult me? The hell with her!?"
Harper mumbled, looking at Arkisha, and getting out of the door mockingly smiled at her.
