Chapter 1
Location: Flower garden, West wing, Princess quarters, Royal palace, Riveria
With all the elegance of a future queen, she strolled in the flower garden observing the flowers as they blossomed without any care in the world. It was the most beautiful sight in the world it was the best feeling ever watching those innocent and pure souls blossom into beautiful flowers. Watching them was her way of running, escaping, and hiding from the real world where only evil, greed, and hatred ruled and where everyone is all but innocent, especially those monsters called men. She could write a whole encyclopedia on the many reasons she wished men were extinct or in fact, never born.
She hated them with everything in her and if she wasn't the crown princess, the heir to the throne, the one who is meant to promote peace and make sure all the citizens of Rivera live in unity and peace, she would have made it her life's mission to kill every single man that exists but, being the future queen, was fate's way of stopping her.
A beautiful multicolored butterfly in her view brought her out of her thought. Its wings fluttered around and it shined brightly. It finally landed on her shoulder and it looked like it changed its mind because the next moment, it left her shoulder, and the bright light from its wing transferred to its body as it gradually expands. It suddenly transformed into a gorgeous young girl. Judging by how youthful she looks, you would think she was around thirteen years of age when she was eighteen years. She has long slender legs a slender body with an innocent face like that of a kid. Her pink wings added to her allure and the light blush on her cheeks could give people ideas.
She suddenly cupped her hand and bowed to the princess
"Master, I just wanted to check on you. Forgive this disciple if she interrupted your alone time. This disciple deserves to be punished, I will accept all punishment meted out by my master. Please do not hold it on me" She tried falling on her knees but was stopped instead
"Tell me, what do you want" The butterfly suddenly blushed pleading furiously
"This disciple dares not-"
"Cut me some slack, will you? Whenever you want something, you act all submissive and mushy so tell me, what do-" Realization crossed her features as she nodded knowingly at her disciple who in turn blushed heavily
"Judging by that cute blush you have, he’s in town, isn't he?" she asked with a smile and got an enthusiastic nod accompanied by a heavy blush in return.
"You can go. You have nothing to do here anyway. Just go."
"Really?" she got a glare in return
"I could change my mi-" she was cut short as the butterfly transformed back into the form it came with and flew away happily. As she stared at its retreating figure, she saw one thing it had that she could never dream of having - freedom.
Every other princess in her shoes would only desire one thing, freedom. She was different. Yes, she wasn't allowed to go anywhere outside the four walls of the palace, of course, it was tiring as fuck to always be the center of attention and act so elegantly and pre-planned every fucking goddamn time, but still, she wouldn't bother having a dream so far fetched as freedom.
It was the last thing she would dream of. She knew better than anyone else why that dream was impossible–because she is a dark magician. She suddenly smiled manically, something she always did whenever she remembered just how much the people of Riveria hates dark magicians.
Something they didn't know or rather, something they pretend not to know is that you don't get to choose to be a dark magician, they are born that way. If there was a way to choose whether to be a dark magician or a light magician, then nobody would choose the former but as always, that motherfucking thing called FATE makes that choice for everyone.
People who give birth to dark magicians mostly throw them away from birth or even mercilessly kill the child for fear of rejection and stigmatization by society but her parents couldn't bare to do that so, they decided to hide her from the world. The only time she had been exposed to the world was the day of her naming ceremony. After that, she had never been outside the palace before. She wasn't even allowed to go everywhere in the palace. She was home-schooled and wasn't allowed to leave her wing except on extremely important occasions. She was cast out from birth.
Why do Riverians hate dark magicians so much? It's simple, their powers are the most deadly. They are extremely powerful and manipulative. They can manipulate anyone to do anything for them. They could even steal other people's powers and turn them into theirs. They can do anything with their power as long as they are ready to bare the consequences.
Dark magicians are the most powerful being in all of Mitv, no doubt about that. As powerful as they are, their immense power is their destruction. The more powerful they get, the more their power controls them, and the more submissive they get, the more they become enslaved by their power and that is when they can do anything, kill people, use people without their permission to get things done and enslave others. And that is when they turn to evil magicians called witches.
Dark magician's power is originally evil but as long as you are in control and it doesn't control you, it wouldn't turn the owner evil. For most dark magicians, turning into witches is inevitable but as long as you follow a single rule, your power wouldn't be able to enslave you— never use your power for your interest.
The more they use their power for their selfish interest, the more their power controls them.
So, it's obvious and understandable why people detest them so much. A lot of those people had lost their families or they had once been prey to the evil power of those witches.
Despite knowing all these, she still finds herself sometimes, just sometimes, desperately wishing that someone, just someone out there would for once not judge her by the kind of power she possessed. That for once, someone will look over the evil exterior people had built with their imagination around dark magicians and see her for who she is, but that thought left as quickly as it came, as for once, the hard, uncaring, and expressionless exterior she wore broke, revealing a sad and sinister smile. she looked extremely beautiful and pitiful with her knee-length hair flowing backward and forwards with the direction of the wind as she reminisced on the reason she believed that thought of hers will always be an impossibility.
It was a beautiful and precious evening. The sun was just setting and it cast down an orange shadow. The scenery was especially beautiful in a particular rose garden.
A young and beautiful lady with ocean-blue knee-length hair is seen standing beautifully in the garden. She wore a long and overflowing red dress gorgeously adorned with silver and gold pearls. Her knee-length hair was beautifully styled and adorned with a gold crown, a gold hairpin, and a red rose placed outstandingly on the top bun. Her eyes were a combination of silver and violet, changing color constantly or in between with a change in her mood just like they couldn't decide what to be. And when they were utterly confused, they were the combination of both colors, and the product of that was breathtaking.
She was a sight to behold. She blended beautifully into the rose garden like she was one of them to begin with, turning almost invincible. If not for her beautifully contrasting hair color, she would have been mistaken for one of the flowers, but in fact, that was the feature that made her stand out the most. Their ocean blue hair looked like an ocean of water flowing from her head to her waist. It added to the tranquility of the environment. She stood in the middle of the garden with a faint glow. She looked like the glowing moon in the middle of several stars on a beautiful and special night. The garden was dimly lit making the atmosphere irresistible. Her smile was brighter than the moon. There isn't any word that exists to qualify this heavenly creature.
Some would liken her to a beautiful full moon among several stars on a glowing night, she could also be compared to an angel descended from heaven or even an enchantress. Others would compare her to mother earth herself in all her glory while some would say she was akin to a young, beautiful, ageless maiden in love.
All of these interpretations suit her perfectly and more for she was, more than in love, she was crazily in love.
With a face full of smiles, she eagerly awaited the arrival of her love, and just in time, the entrance's door flung open to reveal a very handsome and vibrant young-looking man in a Tuxedo three pieces suit with a bunch of roses in hand.
With all elegance, she slowly turned around in her silvery heels, hesitantly and anxiously, she faced him with a bright smile on her face
Instantly, he halted on his steps, one leg forward, the other slightly raised behind it. Time seemed to stop, his heartbeat stopped beating. Even his brain took a break. His eyes, almost going blind seems like the only organ working in his entire body as he slowly took in what was before him. It was unreal. As if to be sure he wasn't seeing things, he managed to voice out in a strained voice
"Kitana, is that you?"
Finally relaxed with his overly stunned and unbelievable expression, Kitana mirrored a smile that was as blinding as the sun. She was worried for nothing, it seems her hard work finally paid off. This was just the expression she wanted to see when she told her maids to make a look as beautiful as a swan princess. It looks like they did a good job.
Lucia, still blinded by the beauty in front of him slowly recovered from his shock after five whole minutes of blatantly staring and ogling at his girlfriend like it was his first time seeing her when they had dated for four years. His heart was beating too fast like it could jump out at any point in time. His brain could only register one word-- fuck. He repeated it in his head like a chant.
Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck
She had never bothered with her dressing before, it seems she just puts on whatever first dress she touches but this night, she had especially taken her sweet time to dress up - for him?
"Y-you look beautiful" he finally managed to say.
"Beautiful? Is that all?" she asked with a raised brow
"Outstandingly beautiful" that earned him a wide smile from her. The rest of the evening proceeded beautifully majorly with lots of flirting before Kitana finally decided to ask the question that has been eating her up for years.
"Lucia, we've been in love with each other for the last four years and every single day for these years, I've desperately and patiently waited for you to ask me this one question I've been dying to hear but really, I can't wait anymore. So, I've decided to do it myself. Therefore, Lucia Knight, will you marry me?"
He was left speechless. If she had done this just three days ago or even yesterday, he would have been dead sure of his answer--no. It wasn't too hard to discover that he had no interest in her. All he wanted was her power, respect, money, and position, not the girl herself, even her family had their doubt about him, and if she wasn't so daft and so in love with him, she would have realized this fact long ago.
Kitana would give him anything and everything, he knew it, all it would take was asking her and she would happily give her life to him. It's a pity he would never be able to requite her love. Damn, he couldn't even imagine marrying her. It felt-- gross, weird maybe?
But an alluring beauty proposing a life of wealth and power right in front of his eyes was making his decision a tough one. Why did she have to look so damn good today of all days! He lamented in his heart
Watching the many expressions flicker across his face made Kitana panic. She became all flustered and desperate that she started rambling
"God Lucia, you aren't rejecting me, are you? I swear, I would be whoever you want me to be. I would do just whatever you want me to, my position, money, just ask, and I will give it to you. I will love you with everything in me. I'm not romantic, but see, I'm trying and it's for you. Whichever way I sound right now, a jumbled mess, a hopeless romantic, or a desperate lover, please, just don't leave me. And if you think it's too early, just tell me, and we'll forget all about tonight, please, wouldn't be able to bare it if you leave me. I'm afraid I won't be able to survive without you, Please, love" she begged
"Please, marry me!"
