Chapter 1
The woods were silent. It was pitch dark outside, only a small ambient light flowed on the brunette saiyan as she sat in front of a cracking bonfire with her legs to her chest and her face buried in her knees while she was surrounded by pine trees. Avanna stared at the dancing fire before her, she wasn't tired enough to sleep. Oddly enough, she would be passed out by now due to the rigorous training Piccolo had been putting her through in the past few weeks. Her body was finally adjusting and her strength was building up, but she still had a long way to go before she would even catch up to the other Z fighters. Having been on the run for the longest time, she hadn't had time to focus on her strength. Just enough cardio and strength got her by working at the lounge she was in before she had come to earth, she barely knew how to control her ki. She envied how Goku and the others were able to destroy structures with just the palm of their hands, remembering the first time she saw it happen. Her father showed her himself back on her home planet, Raita, before he was murdered. She kept thinking how if maybe things were a little different she would be just on par with the others, maybe just as strong as Piccolo. With every spar they do together, every punch and kick thrown at her, it was just a reminder that she still had a long way to go.
"You ought to be resting right now, why are you still awake?"
The brass voice interrupted her train of thought as she looked up at the Namekian, he stood over her with his arms folded. As stern as Piccolo sounded, Avanna knew he was just being reasonable. She sat up a bit before speaking, "I'm not sleepy yet, I'll wait for the fire to go out." He scoffed at her response. "Resting is essential for your training." He spoke, "Your muscles have to regenerate, and your mind has to be alert to pick up on any attacks made towards you." She looked back at the flickering flame digging her face into her knees again. "If I wanted to be lectured, I'll ask." She muttered. "Then you shouldn't have come out here then." He snapped back. Piccolo was just about the only person who can level with Avanna's attitude at times, he knew she was just tired and frustrated seeing how much she was struggling to keep up with him. They often would get into arguing matches in the middle of training which would end up with her walking off and cutting the day early. Being as aggressive as he was with Gohan when Goku first died wouldn't be as successful with her, he learned that it was just best to have her moments to herself when she needed it even if it felt like he was raising a bratty teenager. She had her own problems and trauma left unresolved, there's so much for her to get used to now living on earth.
They sat in silence for a few seconds before he spoke again. "You still have much to learn, but hopefully by the end of this week you should be able to build up some ki to do some petty blasts." He stated. Avanna looked up at him in astonishment, "Really?" She chirped. "You need to stay focused though, you can't mouth off and walk away every time you throw a fit. It will only deter you from getting better." Piccolo began to walk from her and the bonfire, stopping for a second to look back at her. "Don't stay up too long." He stated before disappearing into the trees. Turning her head back to the flames, she smiled softly to herself. Was she really getting that better so quickly? Hopefully, she will be able to spar with the others, not that it would make too much of a difference with Piccolo, he is one of the strongest members of the Z fighters. It would be a while before she ever got to his level, but knowing that just meant she was much stronger than before and that's all that matters.
Minutes passed as the fire slowly got smaller, but not before she heard a loud crashing noise in the distance. Her head turned quickly towards the impact, confused about what it could've been at this time of the night. There weren't any monsters in this area of the woods, dinosaurs usually resided near the mountains in open fields, not that she was worried if it would've been one. Piccolo had her hunt some down as a part of her training, so she could take one down herself, but again there shouldn't be any nearby. So then, what was that noise? Avanna stood up as she hesitantly walked towards the reoccurring sound of trees falling, she had only planned to scope out the area so she can let Piccolo know what was going on. As she walked further deep into the woods, she felt a small amount of energy rising with every step she took. Looking straight into the heavily wooded area, she saw a fallen tree branch on top of what seemed to be a small animal. Her face softened at the sight of the brown squirrel, its tail was caught under the branch. "Hold on, little one." She slowly kneeled down to its level and lifted the branch. The squirrel shifted from the branch's weight as if it was unharmed. It looked around the area, then at Avanna, twitching his nose a few times at her before scurrying off to the dark of the woods. Avanna smirked as she watched the squirrel run off, but then her face stiffened suddenly realizing the energy she had felt earlier was still there. Now that she thought about it, it was certainly too big for something as small as the squirrel. In fact, the energy was increasing pret-
BOOM!
Avanna's train of thought was interrupted by the impact of whatever had crashed down 50 feet away from her. Her body had flown in between the trees, landing on the ground beneath two of them. As the smoke cleared, she raised her head up and saw a familiar face standing in the darkness next to what appeared to be a space pod. Looking at him, she realized he had a tail like her, he was a Sayian! He was tall, dark-skinned, and had the signature spiky, black hair. He also was wearing armor very simple to the low-rank Sayian army militants, but his face was in no way familiar to the ones she's already seen while living on Raita."Who is that?" She softly spoke to herself.
The tall figure slowly stepped out of the space pod while holding a small bag in his hand. His scouter rang in his ear before a sharp voice played from the device. "So how 'bout it boss? Is it suitable for the tree?" He took a quick glance at the area, finding a wide patch of grass that was well enough for a tree to start growing up from. "Yes, it is." He spoke. "I'll start preparing to plant the tree, I do sense energy nearby in the area. I'll keep you updated on any encounters I make while I'm here." He paced closer to the dirt patch, leaning down while starting to dig a hole into the ground. "I will make sure if it is one of the Saiyan states from Frieza's forces myself, start preparing for my departure." Pulling out a large seed from the bag he was holding, he stared at the palm of his hand. "If Frieza is planning to take this planet then we cannot risk staying here too long. I won't challenge him yet." The scouter started beeping again, it picked up on a large increase of ki nearby. "I assumed right." He stated before looking in the same direction as the Saiyan, still hiding behind one of the trees. Raising his other hand in front of him, he shot a large ki blast aiming at the general direction Avanna was in.
Avanna managed to dodge the impact of the few trees falling down, landing on her side on the dirt while now in the strangers' clear view. She grimaced in slight pain before looking back up at him, who was now towering over her body. A clear view of his face revealed that he looked awfully similar to Goku, more similar to Bardock with a stern face. He grimaced before his mouth opened to speak. "Who sent you here?" The brunette Saiyan sat up on her knees. "Who sent YOU here?" She snapped. Scoffing at her answer, he raised his hand in her face building up ki again in his palm. "You are not in a position to interrogate, woman." He stated. "What business do you have on this planet? Who do you work for?" Avanna slowly stood up to his level, her face was at her chest as he was much bigger than her. She stood no chance against him, but she still faced him with great anger. "I work for no one." She spat while her tail swished around like an angry cat. He quickly noticed her tail in astonishment, to his knowledge there hadn't been many Saiyans around since Frieza killed off the army. He didn't think there would be any left roaming around the galaxy or this universe. "So you don't work for Frieza?" He said switching off his scouter. "Looks like I can use this planet after all..." Avanna blinked in confusion, "Use this planet for what exactly?!" She questioned. Suddenly, the large Saiyan gripped her tail in his hands, pulling her up in the air to his face with an evil smirk. "You're awfully small for a Saiyan." He chucked. "I assure you there won't be any fight for you to put up, you will regret the outcome." Avanna's face turned red with rage while flashing her fangs at him, he laughed again at her attempt of being intimidating. She grew angry at his response, "You don't scare me."
"Luckily I do not need to scare you, girl..." he said squeezing tighter on her tail, pulling her closer to his face. "I think you will now regret the choices you made today..."
He didn't plan on killing her but instead decided to knock her out with a quick jab to the face, causing Avanna to fall to the ground once again. The world spun quickly before Avanna blacked out, leaving one last groan to the world. The man took off his long white cape before he wrapped her unconscious body in it. He took her back into his pod, resting her body on the floor of the space pod. Closing the door, he sat in the pod before switching his scouter on. The sharp voice rang in his ear again. "You turned your scouter off again, what happened Turles?!"
"I'm departing from Earth," he declared. "I've made an encounter with an enemy, I was unable to plant the tree." The space pod started to boot up for take-off, he sat back in his seat before he looked down at Avanna again. "The mission however was not a complete waste though," he continued. "I'm sure I will be satisfied with my new reward." It wasn't until then that the space pod levitated into the air for a few seconds, then shot through the sky leaving nothing but a crater to the earth. The woods were once again silent.
