Dragstrip in the sky
Seeing the sight of school couples fill the hallways sickend me to the bone. "Where is my cupid , oh where could he be ? ," I often think to myself. But it had seem that my question finally got answered. Next to Ms. Ball's classroom, he walks down the staircase as if leaving heaven, here ... here is he , my cupid. I knew we where destain to be together as soon as we made eye contact with each other.
And soon enough Danial was my boyfriend. So sick , so cool but also cruel. His hotrod was his toyfriend. My girlfriends always told me he's no good , "He'll hurt you one day." I never really understood until the dragstrip took him away. Daniel was challenged into a duel and he took his hotrod to the dragstrip without hesitation. It was a Saturday afternoon, growds cheering , cars zooming and spectators pushing each other to get the best view.
"Are you sure you'll be fine ? ," I asked Daniel. "Queenie , I know I know I may be reckless but I can take it and you know what if I win this , you'll be in for a big surprise !" I kissed Daniel before seeing him walk away into his race car. "Gentlemen start your engines," says the announcer as cars come to life, the noise of revving engines fills the stadium. The Christmas Tree counts down. The race begins with a flying start.
They made him take a dare. The cars took off with squealing rubber. In a fiery crowd of smoke. Daniel would’ve been the winner 'til his rear end axle broke. "No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no ! ," I yell out before witnessing Daniel's end.
My Daniel is gone away from me. I never said goodbye. But he’ll be safe and sound, In that dragstrip in the sky.
