Prologue
"Jack! Get in here!" Sergeant Bailey yelled out into the courtyard. As Jack was walking towards him he saw the facial expression on the Sergeants face change into something serious.
"Sergeant, what's going on?" He asked in a concerned way.
"We're sending you on an undercover mission," Sergeant Bailey said as he grabbed a file from his bag, "This is a high risk mission we normally wouldn't send you on, but you're the only one that fit the bill of who they need for this." Then he handed Jack the file.
"So you guys want me to go undercover to investigate a string of illegal Arms Dealing in Chicago?"
"Yes. And we want you to be very careful. These people are dangerous and you definitely don't want them as your enemy. You ship out tomorrow. Your new name for this mission will be Jake Stewart. Everything you need to know is in that file."
"One more thing before I go, I saw something about someone called the Spring Soldier, what do they have to do with anything?" Jack asked with a confused expression on his face.
"The Spring Soldier acts as sort of a vigilante. They are everywhere and nowhere all at the same time. They have been showing up in the most dangerous of situations so we put them on the list so you can keep an eye out for 'em. So we can make sure they're on our side."
"Understood."
A few days later...
"You must be Jake, the new recruit." The Leader of the pack said as he approached him. "I'm sort of the leader of this whole operation."
"Nice to meet you. I didn't catch your name?" Jack said.
"Oh, I don't tell my name to recruits unless I deeply trust them but we'll get there eventually." He said turning away. "But why don't I show you what we've got cookin' up for today."
As they walked through the warehouse Jack realized that he needed to do whatever it took to gain his trust. "What's my job for the day?" Jack asked.
"We are having you come with me to make some deals." He said, "Meet me back here in a few hours."
"I'll just head back to my place to freshen up." Jack Said. "Is this a big deal?"
"It is THE biggest deal we have ever tried to make before, if you screw it up, you are dead." He turned to face Jack, "If you so much as get anyone of my crew killed or you blab anything to save yourself, you will not survive another day."
"Understood." Jack made his way back to where he was staying and picked up his burner phone to call Sergeant Bailey. "Hey, the leader of this group is having me go on a big deal with him in a few hours. What do you want me to do?"
"Go on the deal. But we need you to ruin it, we can't have them give those guns to the Sinister Six, the terrorist group that contacted them." Bailey said.
"Wait these guns are for a terrorist organization?"
"Yes and a very dangerous one at that. You NEED to make sure that those guns don't change hands today." Bailey said with a tinge of panic in his voice.
"I'll do whatever it takes, even if it means risking the mission. But how do you suppose I do that?"
"You're going to find a way to contact the group and you're gonna make them think that the deal is off, then you are gonna take the group you're working with to the original meeting spot after you drop us your location so that we can come and arrest him."
"Understood. I'll make that call before I leave." Jack stated as he hung up the phone.
Jack made the call about an hour before he left to meet the team. "Hey Jake, welcome back." He was greeted with a weird sense of brotherhood and bonding, especially for an arms dealer. "I know I said we would get there eventually but I think I trust you enough to tell you my real name,"
"Really?" Jack asked.
"Yes. My real name is Hunter, Hunter Radley."
"Well it's nice to officially be acquainted. Why do you think you can trust me this much?"
"I just feel like you wouldn't betray anyone's trust, like calling off the biggest deal we have ever made, or giving information to the people not a part of our organization." Hunter said in a menacing tone.
"What are you talking about?"
"The people we made a deal with called us to ask why someone who sounded like an 18 year old boy just called them to say the deal was off." He said as he turned to look Jack dead in the eye. "We also did another check of your credentials, they're fake."
"Who's credentials here aren't fake?"
"Every single person here just doesn't give anybody their name in the first place. They are here specifically because I pay well and under the table." His tone started to get more and more serious as he went on. "You, however, basically handed me your passport Soldier Jack Rivers."
The expression on Jack's face turned to worry. "So what are you gonna do to me?"
"WE are not gonna do anything to you. You get to be the terrorist organization's target practice when they test the guns at the spot today." Hunter said motioning to his guards. "Oh and if you wanna keep from losing all of your limbs you'll tell me who this 'Spring Soldier' person is."
"I don't know who this guy is. They're a mystery even to the Army." Jack said.
"Wrong Answer." That's when the guards started to take Jack to the van to prep for the deal.
"I thought you trusted me?" Jack said as they were walking away. "That's why you told me your name."
"I told you my name because I know you won't ever be able to tell anyone else."
"Austin, good to see you again." Hunter said. "We have all of your merchandise right here, and we have a target for you to practice on, if you would like to test the guns." Hunter snapped his fingers and his guards pulled Jack out of the van.
"Who is that?" Austin asked.
"Nobody you need to worry about."
"Good enough for me." He said as he pulled out a gun and aimed it at Jack. That's when someone else showed up. "You set us up?!" Austin yelled.
"No! I don't know how this happened." Then Sergeant Bailey showed up with a team and The Spring Soldier released Jack from his bindings.
"Who are you?" Jack asked.
"No one you would know." They said using some sort of voice modulator. Then they disappeared while the team was putting everyone into custody.
"You're lucky to be alive." Bailey said. "I'll debrief you later. You did good."
"I'll never forget you Jack Rivers, I will make you regret this!" Hunter said as he was being pulled away. "I'll make sure you never forget the biggest mistake of your life!"
