Chapter 1
One of the worst things in the world is getting that dreaded phone call before you get the wrong idea no I am not talking about the call that someone has died, no i am talking about the call you get when your best friend or family member has done something so stupid that it lands them either into the hospital or worse the morgue. What I’m talking about happened about 6 years ago my best friend went down a wrong path. This is her story.
“Mary, do you want to hang out tonight?” Sadie asked as they walked around school on there lunch break “sure movie night?” Mary asked as they stopped off at their lockers to get their books “but of course” Sadie laughed closing her locker and waiting for her friend. The rest of the day went by very slow but when the bell rang Sadie waited by their lockers for Mary who was surprisingly hadn’t shown up yet. “Sorry Miss Carter was giving us a test and we couldn’t leave” Mary groaned ” it’s fine, so want to stop at Tim Horton’s and grab some timbits and iced capps?” Sadie asked as they headed toward the door “have I ever said no to that?” Mary laughed as they walked past the growing group of stoner kids. Sadie kept her head forward not daring to look at anyone of those kids, maybe if she had been looking around she would have seen the interest crossing her best friends eyes. “Where do you think you two are going?” one of the girls growled at them as they tried to continue walking but three of the more buffer guys stopped them “she asked you a question” the taller guy of the two spat at us “Well it’s not like she’s the queen of England now is she?” Mary smirked, Mary has always been the one that always has a quick comeback out of the two girls. “why you little-” The girl started to say as she came closer to the girls but another voice stopped her “Hey you kids what do you think your doing?” The principal called as he walked over to the group “SADIE RUN!” Mary yelled at her friend. Still to this day Sadie doesn’t know why she listened but she did and that was the moment that she lost her best friend in the whole world to the dark side. Mary had not followed her friend she had stayed with the group in all honesty they had fascinated the girl for a long time “why Mary I didn’t know that you were apart of this crowd” Mr Coupe said as he noticed the girl standing with the rest of the stoner kids “oh um yes sir I have been hanging out with them for awhile now” Mary replied taking a blunt from one of the other kids and taking a hit from it. At that she knew she could not go back and she didn’t think she wanted to. Mr Coupe looked at the group not knowing what to say, he shook his head and slowly turned "I thought you were better than this Mary I thought you were smarter than this." he muttered to himself and walked away "so the little girl wants to hang out with us?" The same girl asked with a sneer Mary shrugged. "Well before you can hang out with us you have to go through the what we like to call 'The Walk Threw Hell' " She laughed as she nods to a few guys who grabbed Mary's arms "hey watch it" she growled at them but didn't resist.
