-The Christian-

I tried to show you the way. I tried nearly everyday.

I cried out to God for you to hear, you never knew but when you would walk away I'd shed a tear.

My heart was burdened for you from the moment we met. All the hymns and stories you just didn't get.

You didn't understand, you always had to question God's divine hand.

You turned away and I watched you go how much my heart ached for you but now you'll never know.

I answered your questions but still you had more you seemed to have so many, questions galore.

Why did this happen and why did God allow this? With you it seemed to be hit or miss.

I loved you truly I believe that I did but that fact was something I always hid.

You didn't understand why we could not be together you thought that then everything would be better.

Our beliefs were at odds so I knew our hearts would never fully be together.

I languished in prayer for you so many nights but every time I prayed your sin rose up to fight.

You liked the darkness deep down it was true and because of all the pride humility couldn't get through.

You thought you were a good person, no sin in you, if only my dear, that were true.

I tried to convince you but you covered your ears the darkness had engulfed you too much to see my tears.

I'm reminded of that day when you were oh so close, the spirit was tugging at your heart Jesus was ready for your relationship to start.

But at the last you pulled away said you'd put it off another day.

That day didn't come for you, for you breathed your last and from this earth you did indeed pass.

I cried for you so long I blamed myself as if I'd done you wrong.

Perhaps, I thought, I was too pushy, perhaps there were times I'd gotten too mushy.

You're gone now, my friend, my love, gone and flown away as if you were a dove.

I keep hoping that perhaps at the very last you accepted the truth, maybe when you were sitting there in that restraunt booth.

But when I think of you I get a chill I cannot describe, it's cold and dark not warm like a spark.

If only you trusted in the one who took the blame endured the punishment and withstood the shame.

Jesus died for you my friend I hope that you believed it because if you didn't I know where you are and it is not up in the sky with the bright morning star.....

- The skeptic-

Why did I doubt?

Why did I not believe? To the top of my mouth my tongue now must cleave.

Thirst has overtaken me, it is so hard to see.

Why couldn't I understand why did I feel I had to be a self made man?

The truth could have set me free, it could have been my beautiful golden key. But alas it's not for me.

I thought I was good I wasn't in the hood.

I didn't lie... well, just sometimes.

I didn't steal, just that teal camera.

I obeyed my parents most of the time, but I didn't think disobedience was a crime.

I blinded myself with my questions trying to justify my silly suggestions.

It didn't work I fooled them all but my own heart and I didn't fool God not even from the start.

I tried to plead and beg I remember how I grabbed onto the angel by his leg.

"I don't want to go hell" he'd responded "it's a shame, but you shall."

I thought it was superstition just another man made religion.

I was wrong I thought I was strong.

I'm weeping here in the pit, salvation I did not get.

She'd tried to tell me about hell.

I hadn't listened even as I had seen her face glistened with tears.

She begged and pleaded but her voice I had not heeded.

I had questioned everything every line, paragraph, and every song she would sing.

I questioned it all but I denied every answer she gave, I justified myself and the way I would behave.

I was my own god, my own king my own everything.

But now I lay here buried in sin and rubble, stuck in my own puddle of trouble.

My sins could have been paid in full if only I'd said yes to the one who had continuously knocked on my chest.

But I turned him down time after time I drowned out conviction with my own chime.

Sin didn't bother me as I know it should've if I'd accepted Jesus it would've.

I turned him down one final time saying "I'll put it off just once more" but that was the last time he knocked at my door.

That night death had seized me with its iron grip, it was time for my final trip.

I saw angelic faces and there were traces of light.

It was beautiful and bright, such a marvelous sight.

I was taken to judgement where things took a turn, that is why I now sit here waiting to burn.

My name was not found in the holy book I begged the judge to take one more look.

He looked but it wasn't there. In that moment I can actually say I did care.

I was thrown down here in the shadows of hell, it's almost like one giant hot well.

There is no light just the occasional flicker of fire but it doesn't fill my heart's desire.

You warned me well my Christian friend it isn't your fault I'm now in hell.

You told me and I didn't listen to your words I called them "ridiculous" and "absurd."

If I could take it all back now I would but it's too late now for here I am and here I shall remain till at the final judgement when Christ shall call my name.

Then I'll be cast in the lake of fire and forever burn because I am a liar.

I asked questions in doubt never to learn more about.

I was wrong and you were right I am darkness but you are in the light...
