The Frienemy-chapter 1
I have always believed that soulmates exist since I was young. I was always overjoyed whenever I saw couples being sweet towards each other. I have always wondered what it would feel like to care for someone and also be cared for. I have always believed in true love and soulmate but, I always wondered what my souls looked like. Tall, handsome, fair and rich guys have always caught my fancy and I hoped my soulmate was the description I had in my head. I wondered why I haven't met him because I was the type of girl that any man would literally die for. I wasn't too short but I was pretty with my well-curved body, you could see my buttocks from the front. I have fairly brown skin, dark hair and well-shaped eyes. My well moisturized lips were so perfect that you would want to kiss them at first sight. I couldn't just wait to meet that perfect someone. The alarm clock rang. It was so early in the morning, the early morning breeze was so nice and cool. I laid on the bed in my fairly spaced room with a huge bed almost taking the whole space in the room. I looked up, my windows were open, I was too tired to get up. As I began to think of how the day was going to be, a notification popped up on my phone and I tried to reach it but it fell. Shit!" I mumbled. I reached for my lamp as I tried to look for my phone with my sleepyeyes, then I saw it. I moved up slowly as I found the phone. Typing in my password was a little bit of a struggle because I wasn't fully awake. I finally typed my password correctly and it was an Instagram notification, something in me wanted me to ignore but I just reluctantly checked. Then, boom! "When did this happen?" I said to myself. I wanted someone to wake me from this dream. Stylishly, I pinched myself but it was real. I just stood still looking at my phone, not knowing what to do. I staggered a little and sat back down, I began to stare at the pictures to make sure I wasn't seeing things. But, I mistakenly liked one of the pictures. I wanted to unlike the picture but I got a message. It was from my cousin. I started fidgeting, I think she already got a notification. "Shit!" I exclaimed. "Hey, what's up?" With two smiling emoji. Catherine was known as someone who goes after people's boyfriends but she was always leaving them, but to think she'd do it to her own cousin and had the guts to message me was shocking. "Hi", I replied reluctantly. I introduced my boyfriend, Markle, to Catherine about a few months ago. When I introduced her to my boyfriend as my cousin, she told me to break up with him because he wasn't a serious person. I tried to convince her that he wasn't that kind of person but she later said she was going to prove it. I didn't take her seriously until one afternoon she sent a video of a couple kissing. I watched the video closely but I wasn't too sure, I had to use my glasses and it was actually my boyfriend. Thinking about it now, I could remember vividly how I cried, I almost lost it. Catherine convinced me to break up with him and I did. "How have you been?" I could tell from the chat that she was so happy to see me miserable. I just looked at it and ignored it. She sent another message; "Next week is my wedding and I'd like you to attend." I looked at the message and left her unread. I looked at the clock, it was 6:00am. "Shit!" I quickly rushed to the bathroom, took a quick shower and dressed up in my gym outfit. As I rushed down the stairs, I remembered the picture I saw on Instagram. I wanted to scream but it was too early. I fixed my airpods in my ears as I reached out to my phone and started playing; Pills and Potions by Nicki Minaj. I was running without realizing but it was as if I was running on a spot. Suddenly, someone pushed me and I fell. I looked up slowly and noticed my friend in front of me, breathing so fast. "Watch where you are going!" The driver yelled and zoomed off. My friend helped me up and asked, "what happened? Why were you running so fast?" "Easy, one question at a time" I said, trying to regain balance as I cleaned off the dust from my pants. Trisha has been my friend since high school and she's been my best friend ever since. We've both been through thick and thin together and we've helped each other grow and always made sure we corrected each other whenever we're doing the wrong thing. She's married now and has two kids with her wonderful husband. Trisha started going to the gym with me two weeks ago because she wanted to get back in shape. She would always say, "don't ever think of getting married," and I'd always chuckle because of how funny it was. Her husband was so nice and I wondered why she would always advise me not to get married. "I'm ok, how about you?" I asked, avoiding her eyes. Then, she burst into tears and I wondered what was wrong. Then, she dropped the bombshell "Tony is asking for divorce" I cackled, she looked at me and I realized she was serious. "Bestie, talk to me. What's the problem? Why is he asking for divorce?" I asked her with curiosity written all over my face. At that point, I forgot about my own issue with my cousin and my ex boyfriend. All I just wanted to do then was to give my friend a big hug. I just hugged her while she cried uncontrollably on my shoulder, allowing the snort from her nose over me, I wasn't really irritated until I saw her face with catarrh running down from her nose to her mouth. I didn't know when I started laughing and she laughed too. "Come on, let's forget about the gym. Let's go to my coffee shop", I said calmly. I tapped her on her shoulder as we walked down the busy street.
