The Long Fall

The Internet is something known by many nowadays as a place to gather together, transact orders, plan meetings, and much more. What would we do in an environment that is the internet itself? In a faraway universe, there are things that are always online, powered by an unknown source not even they are aware exists, this place is known as Worldwide-Web; a planet that doesn't exist, but also does, uninterruptible by outside influence.

A rustic voice could be heard addressing their leave, "I'll be gone for a while I might not be back for at least 80 years, I believe you're worth putting my trust into more than 'him', so here are the codes to everything in my possession."

A chipper-tuned voice replied, "I'll gladly take it, you said it was an intergalactic business trip, right? anyway, I'll be sure to maintain everything and take care of 'him' while you are gone."

There is no way he is leaving me, he's going once again and longer than usual this time. That rust-bucket never believes me, why doesn't Most Achievement (my dad) put more trust in me, I have his name and his partitions, he even gave me some of his Shells.

I watch through the camera pointed at the front door as I see the good stuff get passed on. Most is proceeding to copy and send all the codes to my older brother Minimum Loss. Before I could cache their signature used for the transfer, just then three words came from Most's voice module, "Sudo Shell Disarm." The camera I was watching from raised into the ceiling and stopped transmitting a signal. I decided to hibernate for the night.

"Assimilation Complete, waking from hibernation," "Wake up jackass, I know you eavesdropped on me last night." I wake slowly and not because of my CPU speed, I simply can't take Minimum's harassment. day in and day out regardless of whether Most was here, Minimum would always bully me. "I wish Least was here with us, she'd know what to do with you." I can only get to Minimum when I bring up our Mother, as dull and shameful it is to bring up the past, we're machines that look towards to future.

"I'm fed up with your shit MaXXX! Sudo Shell Buzzsaw!"

Quick on his reflexes he attempts to slam into my core where my GPU is stored. Is he nuts trying to make me blind, here I thought I could get through to him emotionally.

"Sudo Shell Guard!"

A semi-translucent blue shield emits from my arm just in time to block his attack, thank Arch, Most has blessed me with so many good Shells, but did he predict I would need them against my brother? I can never bug off the feeling that Most wants to test me. I quickly push Minimum away and step back.

"Minimum, stand down, you should be happy enough right, you have the codes to every system in this complex. Look I don't even know why Most trusts you more than me, you have Mother's last name and she sacrificed herself so both of us weren't destroyed."

"MaXXX, please don't bring Mother into this, and you know exactly why he doesn't trust you! Don't bluff your way out of this."

Minimum seems to transform back to normal, and so do I, but his demeanor has always been this way ever since we were just BIOS with only a command line. I don't suspect he has a virus or malware, but his hate towards me is somewhat unjustified.

"Okay, MaXXX you want to settle this fair and square? The codes are the stakes however if you lose there is one more condition. Steel, Fiber, Laser (S.F.L) Transform rules apply okay?"

I agree with his terms, S.F.L is a simple game, and transform rules are simple; we all have the transform Shells however I know the catch and I wouldn't say I like it, there are two types of transformations and he's not going to tell me is he.

"Laser!"

"Steel!"

I wave up steel and Minimum decides to be clever and shoots my face display.

"Dumbass, you cheated. I can't even see out of this side now."

"It's not my fault, you should have fully transformed."

S.F.L. works when the opposing material entraps or lands a hit on the other subjects' material, but Minimum still never told me the exact terms and now he decides to favor the Attack rule which is the subject, and not their material. He always plays dirty this way and it's annoying. For example, in the Attack rule, you can hit the subjects' sensitive parts to win however if they fully transform into something like steel then a laser nor a fully transformed laser can penetrate the user who is in steel.

The S.F.L. lineup varies from rule to rule, but it is generally like this. Steel counters Laser, and Fiber counters both laser and steel by entrapment; However, if someone is fast enough with laser they can counter Fiber, again this lineup changes for a rule such as Attack, where I lost because the laser hit my display screen.

"You ready for your condition MaXXX?"

Minimum smiles deviously

"You should pack your things."

"What!?"

"You lost obviously, your condition is to live with the other distro users, you fancy piece of junk."

"You can't be serious Minimum, I think you're going too far and being too brutal this time around."

I have to go through with his demands, I know he's not going to change his mind, so I retrieve my ArchCoins and ArchCard and put them in my storage. As cruel as may be, he knows I'll still live a good life down below.

"Stand just a bit further past this door."

I followed his coordinated path and stood there precisely.

"You got any last words?"

"Actually yeah. Can you install Arch without help, and integrate it into your memory?"

Minimum stares at me blankly, and I see digital sweat run down his display screen. "You know that joke wasn't funny- at all. Goodbye." Minimum triggers security causing the floor underneath me to drop.

I drew "One-Point-Nine" on my display face as I fell, looking up at Minimum. It's an offensive mark, however nowhere near as bad as Zero-Point-Zero which will get you shutdown nowadays. I notice I'm falling for a bit, then I look down-

"Holy Arch! That's why he said 'last words', he's trying to kill me!"

I wouldn't swear on Arch unless it was serious, down below me is the Netloss Pool; it's a pool of water where most distros go to die, and it kills anyone that falls in.

"Sudo Shell Steel Ball! Force Hibernation!"

"Force Hibernation Failed"

No, no, no, that can't be happening, right!? "Hibernation"

"Hibernation Failed"

"AAARRCCHH!"

"Sudo Deep Hibernation!"

I could hear a splash and screaming, then absolutely nothing...
