Chapter 1

He watched helplessly as his entire clan died fighting the monster. Warriors and innocent people fighting only to be stabbed by its blade. The monster looked up, directly at him. He pushed his back further against the rock, watching as it crept closer to him. He reached beside him for his training sword but the monster pushed it away with his bloodied blade. To his surprise, the monster pulled down his hood and lowered his sword. Blade looked up. He noticed a scar stretching across his face and one of his eyes was blank.

“Are you afraid of me?”

Blade hesitantly nodded, confused as to why he hadn’t killed him yet.

“You think I’m gonna kill you, don’t you?” Blade examined the figure. His voice had no hostility and he was lowering his sword, “Come, let’s get away from these monsters,” Blade turned around seeing his clan take one final stand. They surrounded them.

“We did our best,”

“We lost him, it’s over,”

“We can’t fight kin,”

He heard his clan shouting, confused. He looked back at the figure who held his hand out then back at his clan. They aimed their bows and held their swords proudly. They aren’t aiming at him, they are aiming at me! They rejected me!

“Come, this ain’t your clan anymore,” The figure turned heading away. Without hesitation, Blade quickly turned to follow after him. He was right, this wasn’t his clan anymore. They were going to kill him if he didn’t leave. He glanced up at the hooded figure.

“Who are you, why did they turn on me?”

“When the time is right I’ll tell you everything you need to know, however, you can call me Calamity for now,”

Blade followed Calamity’s lead through the forest. He watched as Calamity had signaled to get low. Blade looked around and saw two figures who seemed to be hunting. “That’s them,” Calamity pointed with a whisper.

“Why are we attacking them again?” he asked.

“Because the younger one has two of the powers,” Calamity explained, “Look’s like Storm’s late, we have to jump without him,” Blade looked around, seeing a stick. Using his power, he lifted the stick into the air, throwing it at the younger one that Calamity was pointing to. It seemed to have gotten their attention, letting their squirrel get away. Calamity pulled back his bow, aiming an arrow at their heads but they ducked low, allowing the arrow to split into the tree.

“Calamity,” He heard the older one sigh. He took a step forward, drawing his sword. Blade stared at the other one. His face looks familiar like I know him from somewhere, but where? He watched as he drew his sword, taking a step towards him. So this is how it’s gonna be, we’re gonna fight. Blade drew his sword seeing Storm appear behind him. Finally, you show up.

“Blade, Storm,” Calamity ordered, “You two can fight Neon, I got unfinished business to attend to,”

“No!” Neon shouted. Storm quickly used his distraction, slamming him into the ground, however, Neon teleported away and started charging towards him. Blade swiftly dodged to the side, flinging a branch into his path causing Neon to stumble. Before he could react, Blade quickly aimed his sword down at Neon, “That was a foolish attempt.” He shook his head disappointedly, “You rely on your powers too much, and now that you have exhausted them, they aren’t there to save you,” Blade looked over at Calamity, seeing him fighting against the other attack. They both put up quite a fight, but in the end, Calamity won.

“No!” Blade glanced back, seeing Neon teleport out from beneath his sword and into the forest. Blade charged after him along with Storm. He looked around the trees, searching for where he hid. You can’t hide forever. To his surprise, Neon charged forth with great speed sending a fury of blows towards Calamity. This guy is something, he had his chance to run and he refused to take it. Calamity’s gonna kill him. His attacks were sloppy, wasting his energy with each swing until Calamity finally slid his sword cleanly against Neon. In an instant, Neon dropped to the ground, releasing his sword.

“You have anger, but you have potential,” Blade stepped forward, standing overtop of Neon.

“Should I finish him?” He asked.

“No, we could use him,”
