Prologue
My name is Special Agent Dawn Blackthorn. I am 26 years old. I have worked for the FBI for three and a half years. In my time as an FBI Agent, I have helped my now retired mentor Special Agent Rose Thatcher apprehend the notorious serial killer Norris Reeves (better known by his calling card “The Jackal”) and worked on many more low-profile cases. I was just plain old Agent Blackthorn until I passed the Special Agent test four months ago. It was a lot of work, 800 hours of training fit into 20 weeks but it was worth it. Being a Special Agent has been my dream since I was a teenager watching the TV show Bones with my family. Shortly before I passed the exam, my mentor and partner Special Agent Rose Thatcher, retired. For the last few months, SSA Bradford has kept me on desk duty because I lacked a partner.
