The Seeds of Conflict

World War II, one of the most devastating conflicts in human history, began to take root long before the first shots were fired. Its origins can be traced back to the aftermath of World War I when the Treaty of Versailles, signed in 1919, imposed harsh penalties and territorial losses on Germany.

In the years following World War I, political and economic instability gripped many countries. The Great Depression of the 1930s deepened the world’s woes, leading to widespread unemployment, poverty, and political unrest. As economies crumbled and governments struggled to maintain stability, extremist movements gained ground in various nations.

Adolf Hitler’s rise to power in Germany in 1933 marked a turning point. His aggressive foreign policy and ambitions for territorial expansion set the stage for future conflicts. Meanwhile, Japan had embarked on its imperial expansion in Asia, invading Manchuria in 1931 and later launching the Second Sino-Japanese War in 1937.

In September 1939, the storm clouds of war gathered over Europe when Germany, under Hitler’s leadership, invaded Poland. This aggressive act triggered a series of events that would soon envelop the world in a global conflict.

The early chapters of World War II were marked by the lightning-fast German conquest of Poland and subsequent invasions of other European nations, leading to the formation of the Axis Powers, including Germany, Italy, and Japan, and the Allied Powers, consisting of Britain, France, and later, the Soviet Union and the United States.

As the war raged on, it would become a struggle for the survival of democracy and freedom against the forces of totalitarianism and oppression. World War II was a defining moment in history, shaping the post-war world order and leaving an indelible mark on the generations that lived through its trials and tribulations.

Elysiagems: Hi Marcy,I went into The Pack - On the Run bracing myself for the usual "oops, I’m a werewolf clichés, but then Josie’s dad decided to skip the Father of the Year awards and go full-blown villain at a petrol station. Honestly, I didn’t expect to be nodding along with the tension instead of rolling m...

Isabella: This book is relatively fast paced, good character development & interesting plot. As far as shifter stories go, it’s a little off the ‘norm’. I’ve read a lot of shifter stories & this is the first where someone’s mating mark can be removed after a rejection? It’s details like that, that make this s...

Heika van Walderveen: I had to get used to the style. It’s a lot of switching and getting back into the story of the characters. Also the different timelines were a bit confusing in the beginning. But once you’re used to it, it’s really quite original. The plot is good, but it’s only book 1 (out of 3), but so far so good...
