The Egg
“Deary” Via cooed to Veni
“Yes my love” Veni answered
“There is a new egg”
“A new egg? Are you sure?”
“Yes. Come see”
Veni was both amazed and startled at the egg he saw among his own. All of his eggs where snow white, like them, but this egg was black with some sort of golden design on it.
“Isn’t it pretty” Via fawned over the egg
“Im not sure” unlike Via, Veni was warry of the odd egg “when will it hatch?”
“When it’s ready” Via gazed at the egg lovingly
“Via, we can’t handle 5 eggs”
“We’ll figure it out. This egg is special i can feel it”

6 pairs of amber eyes stared down at the cracking egg.
“Move Finny!” One screeched
“Stop shoving me Minxie!” Another cried
“Mom! Zina bit me!” One screamed
“Zane! I did not!”
“Did too!” Zane screeched back

The small black owl looked around at all of them. Her shell lay shattered behind her. She looked at them all in turn, shocked by their interest in her. The owls stopped their fighting to look at her
Via scooped her up in her wings “hello little one! Im your mother. Via. Those are your brother and sisters. Thats Zane,” she indicates the largest of the baby owl
