Love, Lies, And Lust

Why? How could he do something so horrendous? How could the Ethan I know ever be a cold blooded killer that ruthlessly murdered over 20 people in the past 2 weeks?

Questions swirled in my head, threatening to keep me awake the rest of the night. I stare up at the ceiling of my square bedroom as rain pours down heavily outside, as if reflecting my mood.

A tear rolls down my cheek, joining a wet stain on my pillow caused by the sting of betrayal.

A FBI agent in love with the culprit of her case without being aware. How ironic.

We’d been dating for 2 whole years, and there was a whole personality of Ethan that he never showed me.

And the sad part was that I wouldn’t have found out it was him that was the killer that had been on the loose for the past few weeks, since he left behind no clues nor did he make any mistakes.

But he’d told me he was the culprit just a few hours ago, at a café on what seemed like a normal, everyday date. At first, my feeling was one of shock, before the confession sunk in, and it quickly turned into anger.

I was going to marry him. How could he?

I start to sob uncontrollably, turning over to my side as I lay in my bed soaked in the skirt I wore to our date. I wore it just because he said he liked skirts.

But he betrayed me.

And I’d make him pay. I’d catch him, with pure evidence. Everyone makes a mistake. Even someone as smart as Ethan. I’ve known him for more than 3 years now, so there was no one better suited than me to catch him.

Confessing to me was the first and biggest mistake he made in his killing spree.

I’d make sure he knew that.

“Vanessa,” A deep voice calls from behind me.

I freeze, instantly recognizing the voice. Ethan. I grab my gun from where I kept it under my pillow spinning simultaneously to face the guy who broke my heart.

The one I was going to kill.

I raise the gun to his head, my finger on my trigger. “I’m going to kill you,” I hissed.

His sharp features come into view in the darkness as he raises his hands in surrender, his messy, matte black hair wet from the rain. It falls over his forehead, barely touching his eyes.

His sharp jawline and prominent nose complemented his toned body, and it almost made you forget that he was a cold-blooded murderer and sociopath.

His blue eyes travel down my body as I breathe heavily, my grip tight on the gun.

“You look good.” He says, smirking. “You wore a skirt.”

“Are you crazy?” I grit my teeth, suppressing my anger. If I shot at him now, I’d wake everyone in the vicinity. “Why, Ethan? Why you?” I ask pleadingly, almost like I was begging God to change the course of how events were unfolding.

Wind from outside blows in through the open window he used to climb into my bedroom as the room goes silent for a moment. The tension was almost tangible.

The smirk disappears from his face, and a more serious look comes over it. “I wanted to tell you sooner, Vanessa, really. But since you’re in the FBI…” He moves a little closer, his hands still in the air.

Don’t move.” I hoist the gun higher, putting on the silencer I had resting next to the gun on. “I can shoot you freely now.” I’d forgotten to put it on before I went to bed. My feelings were clouding my judgment.

“Ok! I’m unarmed.” Ethan raises his hands higher and my eyes flick to the muscles moving under his tight shirt. “See?”

I blew a strand of hair out of my face. “Why are you here?”

“I wanted to see you, of course.” Ethan puts his hands down slowly, shoving them into his pockets. “You left our date in the middle.”

“Because you told me you were a psycho killer, Ethan.” I narrowed my eyes, “Why’d you do that? What are you planning?”

“Is it so bad that I wanted to tell you my darkest secret?” He moves closer slowly, and I shrink back slightly. “Vanessa, you mean a lot to me, ok?”

“You just confessed your crime to an FBI agent.” I ignored the shivers rolling down my spine as his eyes stared into mine, no hint of a murder in them. “We can do this the hard way or the easy way, Ethan, and I really prefer you just surrender here and now.”

Ethan steps forward, and I immediately shoot, aiming towards the side. The bullet hits the wall with a quiet thud. “I said don’t move.”

He flinches, before sighing heavily, “Vanessa please. Just give me a chance. I can explain.”

“No.” I respond curtly. He’d killed so many people, and in such heartless ways too. He drowned some of his victims, burned the others, and even suffocated people. Women, men, children, he had no preference.

Just the intent to kill.

“You can handcuff me!” He pleads, raising his hands together and holding them forward. “I swear I just want to talk.”

I narrow my eyes, thinking about his offer. I guess it couldn’t hurt, as long as he was hand-cuffed. I pull open a drawer and grab a pair of handcuffs and a key, and slowly move towards him, my gun raised.

Cold water droplets dripped from my skirt, which had become completely soaked in the rain. “Hands behind your back, and I swear to god Ethan, do not move.”

He nods, putting his hands behind his back and staring at me expectantly. I reach over his shoulder and quickly snap the handcuffs on his wrists.

As I move back, I feel his soft breath tickle my neck, sending a shiver down my body. I look at him expectantly, waiting for him to talk.

“This better be good.” I cross my arms, glaring at him.

“Vanessa, I-” He stops and breaks eye contact, “Don’t look at me like that, I can’t speak if you do that.”

“Ethan.”

“Right.” He sighs, standing up taller and straightening his posture. My glance once again bounces to his chest and back to his face. Why was he wearing such a tight shirt? “Vanessa, I still love you. No matter what I do, I always will.”

“You killed people, Ethan.” I say ridiculously, “Do you get that? You’re a murderer. You loving me doesn’t matter anymore, I’m putting you in jail.”

He stays quiet for a second, just looking deep into my eyes. I see his pupils dilate, his gaze sharper than sword. He leans in, his gaze flicking to my lips.

My heart starts beating faster as it starts remembering the feeling of his touch on my skin.

I sigh heavily and move back quickly, “You’re trying to seduce me, I can tell. What, are you going to kill me next?”

Ethan looks like I just shot him. “Vanessa, I would never.”

“Yea, well.” I look away from his pleading eyes, “That’s what it looks like from where I’m standing.”

He moves towards me, closing the distance between us. I quickly move and pin him against the wall roughly, my arm on his neck and his face inches from mine.

“Don’t even try anything. You don’t have your arms, and if you think you can beat me in a fight, you’re stupid.” I hissed.

“I’m not trying to fight.” His gaze flicks from my lips and travels down my body, “I just… want you. ”

“Ethan…” I feel my willpower loosening as he stares at me with his longing gaze. He seemed to have felt it too, since he leaned in and lightly kissed me on the side of my lips. I tense up, but don’t move back.

“Vanessa, I love you so much.” He whispers quietly as he pulls back. “I don’t want to lose you. Ever.”

His eyes bore into mine, almost burning holes into them with their heat and passion. I look up at the ceiling, breaking eye contact as my heart starts racing again. I was being stupid, giving him a chance. But for some reason, my body didn’t seem to care much. As if it had a will of its own.

“You better have a damn good reason, Ethan…” I say, “And I’m still putting you in jail after you tell me.”

“I’ll tell you, I promise. Just after this.” He leans into my neck and starts kissing it as I move my head to the side, his slight stubble brushing against my collarbone. “I’ll tell you everything…” His whisper drowns out as he puts pressure on spots in my neck that he knew were most sensitive for me.

His faint cologne filters into my nose. Jasmine. He knew I loved that smell.

A soft sigh escapes my lips, and I feel myself being pushed back, my consciousness melting away and being replaced by pure longing. I wanted him. Like I wanted him for the last 2 years.

Nothing had changed.

I was hopelessly in love with him. I wanted all of him. His lean body. His cold touch. His warmth.

His chest leans into mine, pushing me back onto the bed gently. He climbs on top, his warmth spreading through my body as he roughly kisses my lips, pushing harder every time.

I try my best to kiss back as I blindly reach out and search for the key I put on my dresser, wanting to free his arms.

I wanted them to touch me. Like they did before all this happened. I grab the key frantically and hurriedly unlock his handcuffs. They land with a thud on the floor.

A gasp escapes my lips as I feel Ethan’s hands run over my body and go under my skirt, feeling his cold touch on my thighs. I run my hand through his wet hair and hug him tightly as he moves down to my neck, the muscles on his back moving as he lifts me higher onto the bed.

“Vanessa…” His voice was a faint whisper in the darkness, sending a shiver down my spine. His lean body fit perfectly in between my hips, as if we were two pieces of a puzzle. He kisses my collarbone, one of his hands moving up and going under my shirt, lifting it up slightly.

A soft moan escapes my lips and I clutch his head as he continues to make quick work of my neck and runs his hands through my curves under the shirt, sending jolts of electricity through my body with every kiss and touch.

I feel myself giving away the control of my body to him as he starts to move lower. I’d let him do as he pleases.

It was satisfying to know that such a cunning, intelligent man that made no mistakes could be undone by the touch of my hands.

Unfortunately, that rule applies the other way as well… I think as Ethan wraps his muscular arms around my body and starts pulling my clothes off.

I’d arrest him later. But for now…

I just wanted to enjoy the ride.
