Chapter 1-Awkward encounter

I could hear my heart pounding in my chest like a trapped bird as I leaned against the cold bathroom tiles. “Mmm, Noah. Please don’t stop.” Noah’s girlfriend moaned with a shaky voice.

I thought my Alpha, Noah and his girlfriend, Daisy, were just making out. That’s what it was before I came into the bathroom to wash my face. But the unmistakable sounds echoing through the thin walls told a different story. The grunts and moans only got louder from Noah and his girlfriend.

As the minutes stretched on, I felt the weight of awkwardness settle around me like a heavy shroud. I couldn’t simply walk out now, nah, not after witnessing what they had done. I desperately desperately wish for an escape from this bathroom, this room, but I’m so embarrassed that I can’t leave but wait.

Finally, the room fell silent. I managed to space out and fall asleep for a little while.

“Aurelia, I know you’re in there. You can come out now.” Noah broke the silence and tension, his voice filled with realization and awkwardness as he asked me to come out.

Fuck! My heart skipped a beat and I bit my lip, my cheeks aflame. I thought he would have forgotten that I’m in here. “S-sure,” I stammered.

“Aurelia?” Noah called out my name gently.

With trembling legs, I pushed the bathroom door open and stepped into the dimly lit room, avoiding eye contact. I suddenly felt exposed, vulnerable, and I couldn’t shake the images that had been burned in my mind.

Noah obviously knew I was in the bathroom and he went ahead with what he just did with Daisy. Knowing I could hear all their moans. He knows I and his Beta and Gamma are close friends, we’re almost like siblings. It is definitely hard for me to reconcile that image with the passionate scene I have just stumbled upon.

Noah had more pressing matters on his mind. He intended to announce Daisy as his Luna during the upcoming Alpha ceremony, a decision that had caused a deep chasm between him and his father, Alpha Bardulf. Bardulf had never approved Daisy, viewing her as an outsider to their pack, and he harbored a fervent desire for his don to find a true mate among their kind. Aurelia couldn’t help but worry that the impending ceremony might not proceed as smoothly as Noah envisioned.

As if on cue, Kessler, a trusted pack member, Noah’s Beta, appeared in the doorway. “What’s with the scenery guys? I can sense some awkwardness here. Can someone tell me what it’s all about?” He said with a smirk on his lips glancing from one person to another but no one said anything.

“Okay…I’ll probably find out later,” he said while focusing his attention on Noah. “Alpha Bardulf is seeking you, Noah,” he announced.

Noah nodded, his expression clouded with concern as he got up from the bed, shook Kessler and quickly exited the room.

“I’ll be leaving too,” Daisy said as she massaged Kessler’s right shoulder shortly and walked out leaving i and Kessler behind.

“What should we do about Noah and Daisy?” I asked Kessler staring at him and expecting an honest response.

“What?” He answered quickly like he wasn’t expecting that question or as if I caught him on his thoughts.

“We both know his father’s disapproval could lead to a dire consequence,” I said.

Kessler sighed, his shoulders slumping as he contemplated the intricate web of pack politics and personal feelings. “I wish I had an answer to that Aurelia. It’s an immensely complicated situation.”

“I’m just concerned about him. I feel he isn’t thinking things through. It more like he’s jumping into an ocean knowing fully well that he might be sinking right into the bottom of the ocean. Right?”

He moves towards me, places both hands on my shoulder and stares deeply into my eyes.”like I said Aurelia, it’s complicated and we just have to stand by Noah no matter what. Right?” He asked as his keeps glancing into my eyes refusing to break the glare.

“I guess so.” I agreed and responded meekly.

“And what about you Aurelia? Have you given thoughts to your own love life?”

Donald has always been a caring friend to Noah and also to me. He’s always there to listen to my rants, to help and also give his shoulders whenever I’m down.

I moved out of the position I stood, letting his hands fall off my shoulders. “Who would ever want to date a wolf with such murky origins like mine?” I said with my voice barely a whisper as I looked down. And now I feel even more uncertain about my place within the pack.

Tomorrow is Noah’s 20th birthday and the thought of it excites me a little even though there might be some drama tomorrow, I still feel excited about it.

I have to prepare something special for him, and cooking for him looks like a perfect gift for him tomorrow.

But then, I’m also being consumed by worries, doubts, and a sense of longing for acceptance. I need to get along with Daisy if Noah is going to make her his Lunar. I’m very aware that Daisy doesn’t like me. She doesn’t like the fact that I’m too close with Noah, that’s something she should learn to accept because I and Noah have come a very long way even beyond her imagination.

“Hey, I have to run along now, I have somethings to catch up to. I’ll see you soon okay?” Kessler said with a warm and comforting smile as he left the room.

I too retreated to my room. The night stretched on, restless and filled with thoughts of Noah, Daisy and the uncertain future that loomed ahead of us all. And I fell asleep while thinking about the whole uncertainty.
