Clouds were all over the sky this morning making everything gloomy. Rose made her way to the bookstore. Her silver was coming all over her face which she did not bother to tie. She had fair skin and white hair. The only exception was the sky blue eyes which she was proud of. The only thing that bothered her was the mark on her wrist. It was in the shape of a half-moon. The gifted people were usually born with this mark and these people killed humans who were born with it. The main reason for that was gifted people were ruling over humans and they were erasing every possibility for them to get into power. Gifted people were those who could manipulate the powers of nature involving fire, earth, water, and many other elements. When Rose’s mother noticed the mark on Rose’s wrist while being human, she quickly hid the mark on Rose’s wrist and took her to live in the middle of humans. Many fortune tellers predicted that the human born with this mark would rule over both the humans and the people with the gift. Rose went forward turning the doorknob of the beautifully carved door and stepped inside the library. The gush of wind came bringing the smell of the old books that brought the nostalgic feeling to Rose. Rose came to the library for one thing. To check if there were any books from James Carrey, he was a close friend of Rose’s mother and he was writing about the political tactics of the people of gift to rule over humans. Rose looked forward and saw Martha the librarian busy in her work, her sleeves rolled up while her red hair was all tugged in a hair bun. Rose went forward and said;

‘’Good Morning’’

Hearing Rose’s voice Martha looked up, putting off her reading glasses she replied;

‘’Good Morning, welcome back to Daisy’s collection how can I help you?’’

Rose spoke trying not to sound too desperate;

‘’Did any book by James Carrey come?’’

Rose gave a visit to the library almost every day and always asked once a week about James Carrey's book. It has become a routine for Martha to reply to that question. She replied not looking bothered;

‘’Yes, check the first row’’

Rose quickly went to the first row of the bookshelf and instantly found the book, she was just checking the backside of the book when someone snatched it from her hand. Rose looked at the person to see who was the cause of it and to her shock, it was a woman belonging to the people with gifts. Rose knew that because of the sword that was hanging beside her waist which had a star mark on it. The star mark represented the people who could control iron, these were the people who used iron swords to fight. The woman had long black hair splayed all over her shoulder to her waist and she was wearing an expensive grey kefta which was proof that she was of a higher status . Rose instinctively hid her wrist behind the sleeve of her pink sweater and tried to leave but the woman blocked her path and said ;

‘’are you not going to ask for it back?’’

Rose knew the woman was just mocking her or was trying to pick a fight because no human dared to talk back to these people. But what worried her was that what were these people doing on the human side was against all the rules and not to forget it was highly dangerous for humans. Quickly thinking Rose replied;

‘’You can have it.’’

The woman looked amused by Rose’s reply and said;

‘’It is good to see that humans are learning their place.’’

Even though Rose was offended by this statement she knew she was not safe with this person so Rose tried to leave but the woman quickly caught her wrist to stop her but things got worse from there. The woman saw a glimpse of Rose’s mark on the wrist and Rose’s heart stopped while the woman had a shocked expression on her face. The woman tried to reach the sword with her free hand but before she could do that Rose got out of her hold and ran outside the library without looking back. To her luck there were bushes just a little to the side, she quickly hid behind the bushes and saw the woman go in the other direction in a hurry not realizing Rose was just hiding behind the bushes. Rose saw the woman holding the sword like she was ready to attack and realized that she was not safe here and wondered that if the people of Gift were also allowed to come to the human side how would she be able to keep herself safe?
