Chapter 1
They were four, playing around teasing eachother. Danny was the youngest and naughtiest.
“Give that to me” said Tom to his twin sister Tina,
“But i like this more.. you can have the blue one” Tina murmured weakly.
“Tom you can have mine bro” Jackson intervened who was eldest of all. Tina smiled at him and gave him a hug, “do you know you are the best brother in the world”? Tina said to Jackson twinkling her bright round eyes at him.
“Yea yea.. you can have him, my best brother is Danny, right brother?” Tom said to Tina and seeked Danny’s opinion.
Danny who was stuffing his mouth with chocolates muffled laugh and ran away shyly. But stopped right before the entrance to living room. Their mother was staring at all her kids with a weird expression.
“What happened mommy?” Danny asked her, but she kept quiet and started moving in his direction. With each step she took towards Danny, her lips parted slowly and her canines started elongated, Danny became terrified and tried to scream and run. But his mother Athena was real quick in grabbing him and sinking her long canines into the soft flesh of his neck. Danny tried to wriggle free of his mom’s grasp bit all he could do was fly his arms around.
Seconds later, Danny’s resistance died down and he went into a sleep-like state. Athena picked him up and walked into the sitting room where other kids were sitting and playing.
“What happened to Danny Mom? Why is he loke this? He was walking fine few moments ago”. Jackson seemed worried and ran towards jis mom carrying Danny, she put him on the soft sofa and stroked his cheek, “I am sorry my son but Mommy is doing this for your own good”. Athena whipered into his ears.
Jackson got frustrated abd tried to hold arm of his mother, “Mom whats happ……” he could not complete his sentence when Athena grabbed his arm and sunk her long canines into his arm. He tried to scream but before any voice comes out of his mouth, Athena put her other hand on his mouth. She stifled his screams and continued biting unto his arm. Jackson felt a sharp pain that travelled from his wrist to his arm and to his heart and he felt a tug at his heart. His eyes were wide open in shock that how could his mother do this. But soon this shock was replaced by a calm feeling, his brain was functioning slowly and it became hatd for him to keep his eye open.
Athena put him down beside Danny and touched his forehead trying to calm him down, “everything will be fine my love, you will understand your mother one day”. Jackson could not understand what his mother was saying and closed his eyes.
“Oh God!! Why is it so hard for me??” Athena sighed. She felt restless but there was very little that she could do. If she did not do this, her children would be in deep danger. She could not risk their lives waiting for something that she was herself not sure about. She had to do this, there was no other option.
She walked to her twin kids who were playing woth eachother, unaware of whats happening in the house. She approached them and sat beside them. Tina looked up at her and smiled so brightly and Athena felt a sharp pain in her heart, she could not bear the sweet smile of her daughter thinking about what she was going to do.
But she also could not give in to the moment and loose the only chance she had to make her kids stronger. The full moon was already up in the sky shinkng so brightly and inviting all the superior beings to do the needful. And who was Athena to ignore the call of nature. She held Tina’s neck with one hand and put the other hand on Tom’s head to turn it away so he could not see whats happening. She bent down on Tina’s neck and pierced her canine into her soct flesh. A trail of blood trickled down Tina’s neck and she moaned in pain. Only then her eyes also got heavy and she could not hold them open anymore. Athena laid her down on the carpet and turned towards Tom.
Tom turned around and saw Tina laying with blood on her neck, he was about to say something when Athen elongated her canines again and bit on Tom’s cheek stifling his screams. He went into shock because of this horror, Athena slowly took out her canines and licked Tom’s wound, she could not bear his son having a mark on his cheek.
Now that all her children were uncouncious, she drew a circle on the carpeted floor and put all of them inside the circle on the floor. She sat in the middle with crossed legs. Suddenly, the power went out and it was pitch dark when the windows bursts open and a gust of moonlight came inside the room. Strong winds started blowing, Athena red hair started flying with the wind, she started chanting in an ancient language. The more she changed the harder the wind blowed. The moonlight shone brighter and brighter until it was all white. The white light bursts into tiny sparkles which spread into the room and started falling down slowly. It created a mesmerizing scene, moonlight went back to normal with soft sparkles flying around, Athena chants became faint like whispers.
