Chapter 1
Stella’s heart was pounding as she headed towards the familiar summoning ceremony. She had no idea if she would recall anything at all due to the fact that she had memories from her past life. There was nothing she could do about it and all she could do was push forward, whether she wanted to or not. Eventually, however, she reached a place in front of others, strangers and her beloved family. She looked fearfully at the large transparent ball that she was about to touch with her hand. Initially, she wanted to put her feet up and run away, but in the end, she would have to go through this ceremony. She just sighed softly, closing her eyes for a moment to count to ten before opening them again.
“It’ll be fine, you’ll see…,” Stella said to herself, trying to lift her spirits, which, as we know, almost didn’t help.
Anyway, after being urged not to delay any longer, she carefully placed her hand on the ball and felt her consciousness wait to be sucked into it. Until finally she completely lost her so-called “consciousness” and could no longer see anything. At first she thought the darkness lasted forever, but it didn’t. When Stella opened her eyes again, she slowly began to look around the empty room she was currently in. It wasn’t very big, but she couldn’t say it was small either. Which irritated her a bit, but there was nothing she could do about it. Especially since, from what she heard, she shouldn’t be experiencing something like that right now. Unless it depended on the person and each of them experienced this moment differently.
No matter from which side she looked at it, there was no turning back. No wonder her mind was completely blank and she couldn’t remember anything. No matter how much she tried, it didn’t work. She slowly rose from the so-called floor, although she wouldn’t call it a floor. She was so-called suspended in a vacuum, which was not a good term. If she were in space, she would definitely be dead a long time ago. But she was alive and well... But was she really?! However, she couldn’t figure it out at the moment and it started to irritate her a bit. She sighed heavily and continued her rather strange journey through the ghostly whiteness. For a long moment, Stella felt like she would never reach the end.
Not long after she thought about it, she reached the end of the rectangle she was currently in. Although she couldn’t really be sure whether it was a rectangle or something else. She had more questions than answers, which pissed her off even more. She had no idea how she ended up here. Which irritated her a lot, but as much as the fact that she couldn’t remember anything other than the word “Stella”. Although she couldn’t be sure it was actually her own name. She sighed heavily and carefully placed her hand on what looked like a wall. She had absolutely no idea if it would do any good, but her hand met a smooth surface, slightly cold to the touch.
“What the…,” was all that came out of Stella’s mouth, right after she noticed the white wall starting to lose its color.
As if touched by a magic wand, it slowly revealed what was behind the wall. She didn’t even notice when the rectangle turned into a square because she was too focused on what she was starting to see through the wall. For a moment she saw nothing but darkness before it began to take on various colors. And with that, she started to feel like she was in space, but that couldn’t be true! So where was she currently? She wasn’t able to discover this at the moment and that made her nervous. Slowly, memories began to come back to her and she began to realize that she had just begun the ceremony to summon her guardian.
And she was in a world called Utera, where magic was normal. She had to close her eyes for a moment as the last moments from her previous life appeared. Tears rolled down her cheeks, unable to understand how this had happened. She remembered that, as usual, she left the house to go shopping. While returning from the store, she felt the ground beneath her feet slip away. The next thing she remembered, she found herself in complete darkness, unable to see where was up and where was down. Already then she felt that there was no way she could return to the world in which she was given the opportunity to live.
“Don’t tell me I died again,” Stella whispered quietly, watching the darkness turn into something like a starry sky, which wasn’t a good description.
She couldn’t determine what she saw because it looked like a galaxy. And as a result, she couldn’t take her eyes off it. No wonder her soul was much older than the body she currently possessed. As if yesterday, she remembered the conversation she had with Beltix, who took care of the world in which she was reborn. Not to mention the man who rescued her from the clutches of creatures that ate the souls of travelers from other worlds. Souls that fell between dimensions and, like her, could not return from where they came. The mere mention of these creatures made her feel sick and it took her a while to get over it.
“You can be sure you’re not dead! I didn’t expect we would meet again so soon!,” after a while she heard a man’s voice in her head, which for some reason was very familiar to her.
She was so absorbed in her thoughts that she didn’t even notice how close the giant face had gotten to the square she was currently in. And a pair of golden eyes, embellished with navy blue and gold eyelashes with a touch of silver, were staring at her.
“Kyah!,” came out of Stella’s mouth when her gaze met the eyes and the outline of a nose staring at her.
Here and there she could also see silver-gold-navy blue hair flowing down his face. She couldn’t see his mouth, but she felt he didn’t need to use it to communicate with her. She sat down on the so-called floor in amazement to notice a hand as bright as porcelain that must have been holding the square in which she was located. Now she could roughly tell how gigantic he must have been and how small she was in comparison to him. Her small body trembled with fear, because she didn’t know what his intentions were towards her.
