Chapter 1

My name is Sawyer. It’s been five years since I last saw her. Who? What I thought to be the love of my life…Linda. I am currently 24, living in my mom’s basement which I decorate to feel more at home. I’m dead broke. Not a penny in my pocket, but I do have one thing. A locket, which I cherish and love more then life it’s self. You may be wondering why I love this locket so much...Well, it was a while back so I hardly remember...But if you insist, Linda dropped it years ago, so I picked it up and told myself that I was going to give it back to her as soon as we met again, but I guess meeting was not as soon as I thought it was going to be. She moved the next day. I didn't get to say goodbye, nor did she contact me. I feel awfully bad because we certainly didn't leave on good terms. Are last meet up was just an argument amongst us two. The argument was quite stupid to be honest. It was about which college we were going to attend together. She wanted to join a college that would educate her so she could be an architect, and I wanted to become a professional comedian. So we fought and the next day I wanted to apologize for an argument as stupid as that, only to find that she was gone. If only I could find her, and tell her that I’m sorry. So here I am, this sad sack of life, sitting in my mom’s basement, eating potato chips. I know something has to change, but I can’t wrap my finger around it.

”Sawyer? What are you doing in here?” My mom called.

“Oh hey mom, I’m just watching some TV,” I called out.

”You’re 24 years old, what are you doing with your life?” She said, coming down the stairs. “And turn this light on! You’ll hurt your eyes!”

”On it, sorry mom” I said, rushing over to turn the light on. I proceeded back to the couch, where after a few minutes, she sat down with me.

”What’s troubling you son?” She cried. I waited for a few minutes before responding, but all that came out was tears, and I couldn’t stop. This was overwhelming for me. I need to go find a job so I can be the stand up comedian that I want to be, but I also want the love of my life back. Life sucks sometimes. After a few minutes of crying, I explained everything to her.

”Oh my, that’s terrible…” she said, trying to comfort me as I continued to cry.

”I’m sorry mom, I need to go find a job. I’ll start packing tonight,” I said, wiping the tears off my face.

”That’s my boy,” she said, smiling at me. “I could help you?”

“Yeah sure, thanks,”

We finished packing that night, and the next day I set off on my own adventure, to a new life, to a new place.
