Part 1

“What’s love?”

I have a question for you: How do you figure out what a crush, a relationship, and all sorts of “love” are? As an Asian growing up in a strict family, I don’t have any clue what that is before entering my secondary school life, where everyone, or maybe just my surroundings, started to have their own crushes, and we gathered to have “girls talk” on why we have a crush on that “fella.”

To be honest, I’m not really sure what crushes mean when I had my first crush. It’s kind of complicated because that boy used to be a really close friend of mine since young, and my friends started unconsciously informing me that I might have a crush on him, since I always mentioned his name, and… he just became my first crush. So, let’s just give him a nickname here, as he’s not the main character anyway – “Fishy.”

Fishy has always been a really good friend and senior of mine, as he always teaches me when I have questions in my studies, shares some funny stories (although I can’t remember them), and has a comedian kind of personality, which makes me interact with him quite easily as he’s friendly. However, things changed 360 degrees when he kept seeing my friends shipping me and him together, which is really awkward, so we kinda lost contact. Yep, I temporarily lost a friend.

Months later, I heard that he had a girlfriend already. Oh wow? He is in a relationship too? Is this a trend or something?

While being super confused, I met this guy, and his name is Dylan, my classmate. He is an average charming person, seems happy-go-lucky, and everyone in this school knows him. Yeah, a comedian popular guy in my secondary school. I wasn’t expecting to talk to him nor be friends with him, even though he’s my classmate, due to my introverted personality, but God seems to have his own plan for this.
