ATONEMENT

Dear Diary,

Today was weird. Mommy and Daddy were acting really strange.

When I woke up this morning, Mommy was already in the kitchen. She was making breakfast, but it didn’t look like any breakfast I had, it just looked like a clump of hair. I didn’t eat it. I tried to ask her what it was, but she just said it was special. I don’t know what that means.

Daddy was acting weird too. He was just sitting at the table all day, staring into space. Every now and then, he would let out a loud scream, like he was being hurt really bad.

I asked them over and over again what’s wrong but they ignore me every time.

I’m so scared. I don’t know what to do.

Dear Diary,

Today was the scariest day of my life.

Mommy and Daddy were acting even weirder than yesterday. They kept trying to grab me and chase me around the house. I ran into the basement and hid. They haven’t found me yet, I hope they don’t ever.

I’m afraid to go back upstairs. I don’t know what they’ll do to me.

I miss my old parents.

Dear Diary,

I found a small piece of glass down in the basement, so I kept it in my pocket. I tried to go upstairs to see what was going on because Mommy and Daddy were screaming again, but they ran at me and tried to hurt me.

I have scratches on my arms that are bleeding really bad. I had to use the glass to kill them. I hope I wake up soon, I want to see my normal parents.

Please help me. Someone.

Dear Diary,

I ran away from home. Far away. I don’t know where to go so I’m just running somewhere. There are a lot of people acting just like Mommy and Daddy outside, chasing after me trying to hurt me. I’m hiding behind a gas station store.

What is happening to everyone? This has to be a nightmare. A really bad dream.

Oh! I know what to do!
