Prologue

Every morning, the sun rises on Lunar Tooth pack from behind Mount Endo, peaking out over the surrounding forest’s tree tops.

The beautiful reds and orange hues flooding the sky is drastically different to what can be found along the pack border.

A singular, long, eerie howl is heard past the pack’s surrounding forest, atop mt Endo’s peak. That is where the silhouette of a giant wolf can be seen by anyone who knows to look, craning its head back, framed by the sun behind it. It’s a beautiful sight to behold, while the last of its soul crushing sound dies out.

Somewhere in the middle of thick forestation, there is a clearing big enough for a couple dozen cottage homes. While those within these homes marveled at the mysterious figure and its sound, fear bubbles to the surface when suddenly, panicking families in wolf form rush out from the assumed protection of the canopy of trees.

Deeper into the forest coverage, moving towards the sounds of snarling, clashing teeth and ripping fur and skin, an unexpected battle has begun at the pack borderline, waged between warriors in wolf form and an unknown enemy in an altered form of werewolf.

The smell of copper, mud, saliva and early decay of the fallen hits the nostrils of all within pack limits, no matter they be in wolf or human form.

Back at the centre of the pack lands, a scream erupts on the steps of the pack house, splitting the air all around.

A she-wolf, in her mid thirties, clutches a baby pup close to her chestas she falls to her knees. A boy in his early teens, closely resembling her, holds her shoulders to keep her from falling completely. Her eyes go vacant as pain sweeps through her and takes up permanent residence.

The boy’s knowing eyes look towards the forest entrance. A familiar pair of emerald green eyes appear, staring back at him through the pitch black between thick trucked trees. They blink closed and never return.
