The Keeper of the Key

Early in the story Luke and Emma decide to keep their personal information locked away in Luke's pencil case, and Luke says he'll give the key to Marcus for safe-keeping. This would have been the ensuing scene.

Please keep in mind any and all works in this collection were scrapped and/or rushed, so not much attention was paid to grammar/punctuation/ overall flow

Marcus was just coming out of the garage when Luke found him. It was a little after noon, so the sky was high and bright.

“Hey, Marcus, where’ve you been?”

Marcus looked up at him and stuck his keys back in his pocket.

“Your mom asked me to drop something off at the post office. What’s up?”

Luke held out the tiny metal key.

“Can you hold onto this for me for a few days?”

Marcus stared at tiny silver thing between his fingers and took it, curiously flipping it over in his hand.

“Sure? What’s it for?”

“It’s just for something Emma and I are doing. Neither of us can touch it until the end of the week.” He answered casually. His cousin’s eyebrows shot up.

“That’s kinky as hell.”

“What? No, it’s not like—” Luke tried to explain, but Marcus cut him off, closing his fist around the treasure.

“Don’t worry, it’s safe with me.” He winked, and placed the key in his pocket. Before he walked off, he clapped his cousin’s shoulder. “Glad to see you’re branching out a bit, Luke!”

BlackKat07: Loved the characters and plot. Unfortunately after about chapter 10 the book really needs a good proof-read - lots of spelling and grammatical errors that spoiled it for me. Up till then I was happy to correct the occasional one, but after that I just lost interest when there were up to three in a...
