Our Last Goodbye

It’s been two winters since she left. At first, our little family was devastated, but as the days turned into weeks and weeks into months, we grew to adjust to our mother being gone. The elders in our village said that her spirit is resting in the Elysian forest, but sometimes I feel like she’s still with us. I can hear her humming when I’m cooking dinner; my little sisters say they can feel her presence as they’re playing in their room. My brother sometimes admits that he can sense her when writing poetry. Sometimes, when we’re eating dinner, we laugh and giggle and feel her warmth around us. Tomorrow is the last day of winter, and spring will come. I have a feeling that our beautiful mother will finally go to her resting place in the Elysian forest. Before I go to bed, I will say my final goodbyes. I hope that she will send a sign that she is OK. I will always love her. Forever Mama
