Chapitre 1
{Prologue}
Kay and Enea Uny loved their children from the very bottom of their heart. And despite how all thought the opposite, those two children were the most precious things they had in the world.
They were everything in their eyes.
It had been many years since they got married, but like most of the people of their kind, they had spent years trying to have children, without any success. 20 years of failed attempts had completely made Kay and Enea give up on having a child.
And when they had lost all hopes, Enea got pregnant. Later giving birth to a little Elias, and a little Elae.
Their birth had been a source of celebration, the birth of a girl had been so rare in their world…
Furthermore in their family, in which there had been no birth in years. Enea was an only child, and Kellan, Kay’s brother, lost both wife and kids many years ago.
The couple felt fulfilled from all they had. And the four of them were so very happy.
For three short years.
Who would have thought they would be chosen after the last failed attempt ?
Enea cried, screamed and cursed her husband, cursing his entire lineage. In a pure fit of despair, she even tried to get a divorce, hoping against hope that their children would be spared from the fate awaiting them.
But it didn’t matter, there was nothing Kay could do about it, only his older brother, the emperor could.
And for the public opinion, the logical issue after the emperor’s children was his niece and nephew. They too fulfilled the criterias after all : a girl with an abnormally high level of tachyons in her blood, and a twin receptive to tachyons fluctuations.
It was their duty according to the emperor.
At the age of 3, Elae Kaaya and Elias Kaleb Uny left Vaes’s capital.
Time was moving differently in Vaes, that was the main power and strength of the empire. So both Enea and Kay hoped they would get the chance to see their children again during their lifetimes. But a part of them knew it was mostly hopeless. After all, no one ever saw Kayla and Kane ever again after they were sent away, and centuries had passed since then.
Of course, the decision in itself was a source of debate, just like most decisions. Debates and strikes took place in front of the palace’s doors. Philosophers and scientists were arguing over the well-founded idea of trying again after the last failure, and maybe condemn two innocent children to their certain death.
Enea and Kay both were supporters of “sending”, but not if it cost families, and turned them apart. They were against the idea of sending kids, for them it was madness. However, disobeying the emperor’s order, even if they were family, would make them incur a death sentence. But what kind of parents would agree to send away their children?
When the day came, a crowd was massed in front of the palace, separated into the pro-great filter faction, and the supporters of the “sending”.
Enea and Kay just came out of the transfer doors in their domain, the two toddlers in their arms they walked through the great hall, trying to ignore the angry shouts and the chaos outside of the palace. They quickly were brought to one of the laboratories, Enea and Kay met the emperor there.
Surrounded by his guard, Kellan seemed grief-struck, and it certainly was the case, he had lost his children, and his wife, the empress Sina was completely mistrusting him. He was afraid for his brother’s children, for his nephew and niece.
Obviously, the emperor tried to close the program after all gave up on seeing Kayla and Kane ever again. However, a part of the empire was simply convinced it was their civilization’s duty to bring their help to other universes.
Standing before his brother, he gave a quick look to his niece and nephew. And Kellan felt himself faltering, he couldn’t utter a word. He approached his brother, and placed his hand upon his shoulder, like when both of them were kids, then he stroked his nephew’s cheek. Elias looked just like his son, Kane, who also was a toddler when he last saw him. At this moment, Kellan felt dirty and heartbroken.
The emperor then turned, and left, without any look behind.
Kay felt his heart break even more than it already was, he had felt his brother’s despair, and he finally understood how Kellan did in fact try to stop all of this madness. Emboldened for an instant, he hugged his daughter, and his son for the last time, before letting his wife do the same. They tenderly placed the two kids down.
And while the two children’s memory was erased, and that the two parents were allowed to make their goodbyes, Kay discreetly approached his son, successfully interrupting the erasing of memories process, he murmured in the toddler’s ear an ultimate advice :
“Seek the truth, that is the only way for you to find your way back to us. Vaes will alway be your home. Elae is the key, so take care of your sister for us. You must come back to us…”
One of the doctors found out what happened, and rapidly separated them, starting the erasing of memories process once again, removing him from his father definitively. Who would have thought that this single moment would allow Elae and Elias Uny to one day find their way back to Vaes after all.
A few hours later, Elae and Elias were sent to another world, another universe. And Kay wondered whether he would ever see his children again.crire ici...
