La famille Parker part en vacances d’été en Bretagne française, comme chaque année. James souhaitait avoir plus de liberté venant de sa mère, car du haut de ses quinze ans, il n’a pas le droit de sortir sans son grand frère Adrian qui passe son temps à l’embêter, et il doit accompagner leur petite sœur,Bella, partout où ils vont. James rêve sans cesse d’obtenir la confiance de ses parents surprotecteurs, ce qui n’est pas donné. Pour s’aérer un peu la tête de toutes ces disputes avec ses parents, le jeune homme va se reposer sur une plage non-éloignée de chez lui, bien-sûr suivit de sa sœur et de son frère. Ils décident de faire un tour sur les flots, installés confortablement sur un bateau gonflable. Adrian surveille la plage pour ne pas dériver trop loin, mais le soleil et le clapotis de l’eau l’amènent au sommeil, tout doucement...
