SECOND BOOK: THE HIDDEN LABYRINTH

I look around, seeing a piano, a violin, and some Greek art. I examine the paintings, seeing that they are all different depictions of Poseidon, Hestia, Hera, and Zeus. I found one of Demeter, and one of my mom, Aphrodite- the aesthetics of the painting colorful and dazzling to the eye. Behind all of them is one that looks dark- the black and red paint on the sides being the only thing I can see. I move the painting forward to see that this dark painting depicts Cronus swallowing the Gods and Goddesses whole. He’s depicted as a giant- an army of demons and hellhounds tearing through the Greek gods as Cronus dangles a handful of them, dropping them into his mouth. I shudder at the sight, remembering that I am supposed to face him someday.

I hear the loud POP POP POP of a handgun and a noisy THUMP following afterwards. I jump, the paintings falling onto the ground as I cover my mouth with both hands, staring at the ceiling above me.

Tears fill my eyes again, and I fall to my knees.
