Prologue - Damn Ghoul

Under the ghostly glow of the moon, tinged with an ominous red hue, a woman ventured alone into the heart of a foreboding forest. The chilling silence was shattered by distant cries and screams, echoing through the twisted trees like the wails of tortured spirits. Drawn by an inexplicable urge, she followed the sounds, each step increasing the unease that clawed at her gut, the cold wind caressing her skin with icy fingers, sending shivers cascading down her spine.
Abruptly, the cries ceased, replaced by a ghastly symphony of biting and munching. Venturing closer, she stumbled upon a scene of macabre feasting. Hellhounds, their fur matted with fresh blood and sinister smoke curling from their forms, were ravaging a corpse with savage fervor. Each tear of flesh, each gush of blood, painted the night in strokes of horror. Amidst these demonic beasts, an entity of pure malevolence feasted alongside them. Its eyes, glowing a hellish red, peered from a shroud of black-green vapor. With hands that seemed neither fully human nor beast, it savagely ripped the body in two, its grip on the victim’s neck so tight that blood oozed out as if compelled by the creature’s vile desire. It inhaled the scent of the blood with a perverse appreciation before consuming the neck with a ghastly fervor.
Frozen in terror, the woman felt an icy dread spiral down her spine, tears streaming uncontrollably as she fought to stifle her screams. A suffocating fear enveloped her, her body trembling uncontrollably. In her horror, her fists clenched so tightly that her fingernails carved crescent wounds into her palms. Amidst her tears, a grotesque grin spread across her face, a reflection of madness in the face of utter horror.
Then, a whisper, insidious and mocking, slithered through the air.
“You’re smiling?”
She spun around to confront the source—a shadowy figure with emerald eyes and crimson fumes emanating from its ghastly grin. Its laughter, maniacal and unhinged, pierced the night.
“Kekeke!Ah, I see it now—You’re one of us, aren’t you?”
Jolted awake, she found herself ensnared in the remnants of her nightmare, her gaze darting frantically for any sign of those monstrous creatures. As her breathing steadied and her pulse calmed, she whispered to the emptiness,
“Great! Now I am having nightmares about it too?”
“.......That damn ghoul.”
