The shadows of deception and false since of pride.

Rain: Man, the lines packed, today.

Mirage: What did you expect from the most popular coffee show in the world.

Rain: I don’t know, I was hoping we would just get lucky.

Mirage: Yea right on a Monday morning everyone is looking for there morning picked me up.

Radio: All units to the Vampire dragon hotel.

Rain: Let’s go.

We took off down the highway.

I wonder what happened, that they would need all units in a city this big I thought they typically only used the nearest in the area I don’t want to ask Mirage I don’t want to look stupid my first week.

We pulled up to the area.

Mirage: What is the situation captain?

Captain Caesar: See for yourself go inside you will not like what you find.

Mirage: Rookie you may want to stay back for this one.

Rain: No way, I need the experience.

Mirage: Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

We entered the building and the sight in front of me was more than I was prepared for everywhere I looked there were naked bodies, but they weren’t just naked they were turned to shreds some were missing limps others were missing their eyes.

I began to vomit uncontrollably.

Mirage: Happens to everyone there first time on a case like this.

Rain: We would do something like this?

Mirage: I would like to find that out too.

Captain Caesar: Unfortunately, there is not a way for us to figure this out right off the back of the cameras conveniently went dead the night this happened.

Mirage: What about the staff there’s no way all this happened without somebody hearing.

Captain Caesar: We came to that conclusion to and that’s whats troubling all the night staff were also killed.

Mirage: Then who called this in?

Captain Caesar: The morning shifts came in and horrified they called us however right now we can not interview them as they were older and had to be sent to the hospital for the shock.

Mirage: Great so we have nothing to go on.

Captain Caesar: Not true we just have to wait it out the morning shifters will be ready to talk eventually, and the DNA people will eventually have a lead a struggle this big I doubt somebody didn’t manage to get something off their attackers.

Mirage: Okay sounds good so what do you need us to do for the moment?

Captain Caesar: Keep back the press.

Mirage: Ughh will do come one rookie.

Press person: Officers I need to know what happened?

Mirage: The investigation is ongoing nobody needs to know what happened and we cannot give a statement on ongoing investigations.

Press person: But how will the public know they are safe if you give us know information.

Mirage: Because have you ever known us to be anything but vigilant.

Press Person: I am not doubting your efforts officer but cold cases have happened and murderers have gotten away with murderers before.

Mirage: In a shockingly small percent and much of that happened pre the technology era.

Press Person: fair enough

Mirage: What I can tell you is this whoever did this will be caught they will face the fullest extent of the law.

Several others news people began to bombard us with questions we spent the next several hours rerouting them and ducking and evading them.

Then backup game and helped clear out the crowds for the purpose of the investigation.

Captain Ceasor: Its late ladies go home we will deal with this tomorrow your shifts are over.

Mirage: Night captain.

Rain: Good night.

We made our way back to our car and Mirage drove me to my house.

Mirage: Could I use the bathroom while I am here?

Rain: Sure thing.

We went into my house, and I flicked on the tv.

There you have I folks said by the police themselves they have no idea who the killer is but if they find them, they intend to use the death penalty.

Rain: That is not at all what you said.

Mirage: I am use to it the news caster or little better than politicians they just say whatever the hell they think they need to get good ratings.

Rain: It doesn’t bother you at all?

Mirage: When I was a young rookie fresh out of the academy like you yes however, as I got older no you just get use to it.

Rain: Well, it will be a while till I get use to it.

Mirage: Yea I get it news people can be annoying.

Rain: No kidding, do you want to crash here for the night?

Mirage: If you don’t mind.

Rain: No, I don’t. I figured you’d be tired from the day.

Mirage: Yea I am.

Phone rings.

Rain: Ugh guess its time to start my morning.

Captain Ceasar: Thank you for your timely response, I need you guys to get down to the mayor’s office he wants to give a statement to reassure the public and we are to be his escorts to show our support.

Rain: We’ll be there.

Mirage we got to go too.

Mirage: I know I heard.

Rain: okay then I guess of we go.
