Shattered Lives
Liam struggled to free himself from the rubble that pinned his leg, blood staining his clothes and pooling around him. As darkness threatened to claim him, the wail of an ambulance pierced the chaos. Then, oblivion.
When he awoke, the sterile scent of the hospital assaulted his senses. He tried to rise, but his body refused to obey. His gaze swept the room, landing on a group of children, each bearing the scars of the same tragedy that had befallen him. They were neighbors, victims of the same cataclysm that had torn their lives apart.
A new arrival drew Liam’s attention—a child so grievously wounded that hope seemed a cruel illusion. Liam yearned to understand, to piece together the fragments of their shattered reality, but the medical staff were consumed by the urgency of saving lives.

Desperation clawed at his heart, longing for the familiar comfort of home and family. He turned, finding solace in Ember’s presence, a fellow survivor amidst the chaos. With trembling words, he sought answers, and she offered what little clarity remained in a world torn asunder.
“World War III,” she whispered, the words heavy with sorrow. “Our home, our city—devastated by the blast. So many lives lost...”
