Book 1: Faith

Cain watched angrily as Able prayed to God reverently and faithfully.

This was the same God who had punished him and Able for the sins of their parents, and it was bs.

Their parents had been created in a garden where all of their needs had been met, and had only had to not eat one stupid forbidden fruit in order to pass on paradise to him and Able.

But they had eaten the fruit and doomed them all…

Every day, Cain would angrily lash out at God and demand that he and Able also get an opportunity to have a paradise garden where only one thing was forbidden.

But did God ever grant his request? No.

But for some idiotic reason Able was always a big fan of God and wouldn’t acknowledge the injustice of it all.

One day, Cain came home from work after many of his crops had been ruined for some reason, and he saw Able doing the same praising God thing that Able always did.

“You’re a moron, and your God is a monster.” he said to Able, “How can you not see that?”

“God gave us life, Cain.” Able said to him, “And I have faith that God will always care for us and that we will even be able to experience something like the paradise garden that our parents used to live in someday.”

“Faith…” Cain muttered, “Where do you get this totally unjustified faith from? God is not fair to us now, and why would God be fair to us later?”

“Perhaps the hardships of this life will make us appreciate what God has in store for us later even more!” Able reasoned, “Also, it’s still better that we exist than if we had never existed, even if our hardships remain, and so there’s always much to be thankful for.”

“Don’t tempt me to test your existence theory out, Able…” Cain said ominously, before adding, “Just kidding, of course. I mean, I’d be no better than God if I were to engage in violence against you, and I have no intention of lowering myself to God’s level.”

“Someday you’ll see that God is not the terrible God that you accuse them of being,” Able said, “or at least I hope that you will.”

“Ha!” Cain said with a smirk, “Your hope is as ridiculous as your faith, brother; and so I’m going to leave you to your false hope and misguided faith and head to a local brothel to put some of the fruits of my labor to good use!”

“But Cain,” Able said while doing a facepalm, “do you really want to end up wondering if someone’s child is yours or someone else’s? Don’t you want for your kids to have 2 parents who love each other like our parents love each other?”

“Each word more delusional than the next!” Cain scoffed, “Dad loved Mom so much that he doomed men forever for her by eating the forbidden fruit when she offered it to him! Women are enjoyable to engage in bedroom pleasures with, but that’s as far as I’m going to go with any of them. And, as far as kids goes, I couldn’t do any worse by any kids that I might have than our parents did, that’s for sure!” and Cain raced off towards the nearest brothel while humming to himself to drown out the protests that he knew his prude of a brother must be making…
