Veil Places
Terms:
The Veil: A mirror like split that formed in space when the Big Bang created our known universe. The Original Universe already existed, and is now beyond the veil, and is being slowly crushed and condensed by our known universe. The Veil is a split in space and time, and no one knows how it was created. It is incredibly perilous to pass through, and its huge gravitational pull and the unknown molecular forces within, cause countless destructive and volatile events across the original universe, with gravity behaving constantly chaotic throughout. These events include “Imploding” planets, where planets are either pulled about by gravitational forces, or Implode in on themselves, volatile stars that create huge solar flares, colliding planets and stars and worst of all, extremely violent Black holes, which are even worse and more destructive when they collide.
Kar-Bokk: One of the most feared cartels in the universe, with thousands of flare-catcher groups. Leader of this particular cartel is Roku. They also run one of the most financially successful businesses alongside this, providing death passes to millions of poor beings who want to escape imploding planets/moons. They do this either for incredible amounts of money, or for life, where they put you to work on one of their Mugroah’s, huge floating metal masses where beings work and help turn the flares into sellable vessel energy. Very occasionally, they will give you the option of training to be a flare catcher, as they did with Hess, who trained under Roku himself.
Flare-Hunters: Solar Flares are one of the most valued commodities in the original universe, as energy created from them is used to power the vessels that propel at high speeds around the universe. Various cartels fight for the best stars to harvest, with the most risky being stars that have gone super-nova, but these also are the most valuable. The solar flares in this universe are massive, violent and deadly, as gravitational forces pull and force them to be even worse than they are in the known universe. Flare hunting is the most deadly trade in the universe, with mostly the Boa-Kan having a stranglehold on the business, with some rival cartels of different races cultivating the smaller stars.
Hal-Muk: A derogatory term for a being who is born of two different races. They are discriminated against and ostracised. Nahil is referred to as a Hal-Muk.
The Monnu-Grol: A ceremonial position bestowed on the “Veil Keeper”, the person in charge of keeping the Veil safe and sacred, according to the beings who reside on the planets closest to the Veil, known as the Grol’vaa. The Monnu-Grol was a role created by the first leader of the Grol’vaa who came to settle near the Veil, and has held it ever since. It is passed down from generation to generation of the “Monnu-maik”, the keeper line, and now resides with the cunning Dein-HeiRoul-Grol.IV-02. The Monnu-Grol is in charge of protecting the Veil against unlawful passage, and also they use it for their own ends, extracting power from the Veil to fuel weapons and technology that allow them to thrive in the gravity intense environments of the Veil area.
Veil-Kreepers: Creatures/beings who look to bypass the Grol’vaa extract from the veil “illegally”. They can be individuals acting on their own, “cloners”, beings who blend in for years with the Grol’vaa to then try and reach the Veil, or cartel organisations, who occasionally charge astronomical fees to implant beings close to the Veil, knowing that the Grol’vaa will mericilessly hunt down anyone who goes against their Veil teachings.
Stuker: Boa-Kan term for a bounty hunter. A hunter killer Boa-Kan, armed, deadly, and with only one job, to hunt down their prey and most of the time, kill it.
Ba’akul: term used to describe a group of Kar’s that populate the space around a solar flare field.
Mentot: A type of metal, similar to hardened steel, that is used for many spacecraft, and also flare equipment due to its ability to withstand high temperatures without warping.
