Chapter 1
I step outside into the cool Autumn air. Trying to catch my breath as the weight of the day starts to come into commission. Looking around the yard you would have no idea what went on over the past 24 hours. Things look so peaceful out here they alway have.
The beauty of the trees with red and orange leaves almost blending in with the sunset. So much beauty comes before death, I wonder if they know what comes next once they change colors do they know that soon they will wither away turning brown and falling slowly to the ground. Only to get stomped over and forgotten. The flowers that have reached their last bloom before they also wilt away and die, I guess the most beautiful things have to eventually fall. Is that what's going to happen to me, after this day will I just Wilt away and die only to be forgotten.
I close my eyes and let the last little bit of sunlight gleam on my face. Drying the tears that no longer fall, I don't think I would have any tears left even if I could still cry. I go to take a seat on the swing that sits at the back of the wrap around porch. "Tessa". I hear my name that slowly brings me back to reality and out of the fog that my mind was in. I look up and see him standing right in front of me, Im not sure when he walked over here, when he walked out of the house.
I'm still unable to speak. I look down at my hands and see them colored in this dark crimson color they are shaking and I can't remember fully why. "Tessa" I hear him again, I look at his face so dark his strong jaw clinched his hazel eyes seem so deep and longing, yet with a hint of caution. Almost like he is scared of what will happen once I finally speak. He is now kneeling in front of me grabbing my face as he slowly wipes my tear stained cheeks. He stares into my eyes searching for anything any type of answer. Thats when I hear the sirens in the back ground getting closer. He squeezes my hands and I know he has to go, he can't be here when the police get here. He grabs my face and his lips touch mine. I know this is goodbye I know after this moment I won't see him again. He told me he wouldn't leave me alone but after today Im not sure how he can stay. I can only hope that one day our paths will cross again. I try to speak but my mind is just a ball of strings connecting the events of the past day in a tangled mess. I want to hold onto this moment I don't want to let him go. Ive known him for such a shot time but in these two short months he completely changed my entire world and everything I thought I knew. He pulls away and with one last look he's gone. Getting in his black truck turning left out of the driveway. Just as his car is out of sight the line the blue glow of the police cars shine above the horizon.
