ME & YOU

The moonlight makes its way past the dark clouds. The tiny stars glittering across the sky. The night sky from the cliff looked perfect while lying down. Kevin had a thin smile across his face watching the view. Kevin turns to his left to find his beautiful girlfriend staring at his face. Her eyes captured every single feature on his face.

“What happened, Natasha?”

“Kevin, please don’t leave me.”

“Don’t think about that right now, Natasha. Just be in this moment.”

Natasha takes Kevin’s hand and circles her finger over it. Her blue ocean-like eyes move around in the same pattern as her fingers circle. Kevin felt ticklish at the cold touch of her thin fingers.

“What are you thinking about?” Kevin asks seeing her thoughtful face.

“Why is this world so small? Why can’t it get bigger?”

“Why do you want it to be bigger?”

“I don’t know. It just would feel more different, more experiences and...”

“More problems would come too. You wouldn’t be ready to take that, Would you?”

“I would be ready to face those problems for these experiences,” Natasha says getting up and lying on her knees. Kevin pushes his back up with his hands behind him.

“Why?”

“It’s just because having new experiences is fun. Spending time with you and watching this view is a different experience. To enjoy this, why won’t I be ready to do it? Aren’t you ready to take on these problems?....”

Kevin smiles as she watches her talk. He loved to listen to her all day. Then, his glance shifts upwards. A yellow light starts to shine from up. The night sky slowly starts to fade away. Natasha’s voice slowly got softer, with silence ringing in his ears.

“Kevin, Are you...? Kevin?”

Then, the light beam gets bigger and bigger. Kevin’s heartbeat starts racing. He is surrounded by yellow light blinding him from all sides. Then, Kevin gets up from his bed panting. He turns around to find himself back in his bedroom. He puts his hand over his eyes to stop the sunlight from the window. It seemed to be a very sunny day.

“KEVIN!!, Breakfast is ready.”

“Coming, Aunty.” He replied.

Kevin takes a cool breath to cool himself down. He looks down at the chain with the blue jewel pendant hanging over her neck. He grabs it close with his fist and smiles as he remembers the touch of her soft fingers. He gets off his bed, waiting eagerly for his next opportunity to sleep.
