Summary

As the title already explains, this is a collection of short stories that are too short to become a book, but still wanted to be told. I hope you'll enjoy these little journeys and I wish you all a happy reading!

The End

The earth was at its end. Hills that were once covered in lush greenery were now just lifeless piles of dirt. The greenery disappeared years ago, the animals that once lived here were devoured by these black holes that now housed the bare hills. There was no hope for living creatures as their home was already dead. It was also time for humans to leave the carcass they once called Earth. And off we went.

You're probably wondering where we were going. Well, we didn't know that either. We followed a path whose end we didn't know. We walked past hills and dead meadows. The only thing that still animated them were these black holes that appeared to swallow up living beings. They were like giant eyes looking down on us, mocking us, for they refused to devour us.

Our path ended in a desert. In front of us stood figures wrapped in black cloaks, standing next to two doors. Contrary to all the fairy tales we had been told, these doors were the same. You couldn't guess from the look of the door where it would lead us, but we stepped in front of it anyway. We were each asked a single question to answer, unfortunately there were some poor clueless ones who didn't know the answer to their question. Their faces were stolen and they were condemned to wander the lifeless body of the earth in search of something they didn't know.

It was my turn. I felt neither fear nor excitement. Maybe a little regret, but it's too late for that now.

“-----------?” they asked.

“-----------,” I replied.

They opened one of the doors and pointed inside. There was nothing in that door, and maybe that was what I was going to be, nothing. Before I walked through the door, I turned around again. I looked at this wasteland that was once full of trees and animals, the beautiful rivers that could never flow through valleys again, the wasteland we once called home. I wanted to say goodbye, to tell her that I would miss her, that I was grateful for everything she had given us. But I didn't, because I knew that as painful as it was to leave her behind, she wouldn't miss us.

After all, who would mourn their murderer?

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me. How could Tristan have been dreaming about his mate since he was a child if Omara was already mated to someone else before him? If Kyle had accepted Omara, would Tristan ne...
