Fancy seeing alpha again
The Calm Before the Storm
Twenty-year-olds Eva and Sela were looking for an internship after finishing their second year of university. They had applied for jobs at Exo Ltd, a reputable company, and shared a college dormitory room. Fortunately, they were both selected for accounting department internships. Their first day was today.
It is almost time, Sela. Eva examined the clock and replied, "It's is time to get us to leave."
"Done, I am ready. Come on!" eva answer, Sela took her bag.
They exited the dormitory

They entered the gleaming hallways of Exo Ltd. with their hands clasped together in anxious anticipation. Their hearts were racing with excitement. The scent of ambition permeated the air around them, a blend of leather, coffee, and aspirations for achievement.
They were given a tour of the company and a quick introduction to the employees before beginning their work.
"There is an urgent meeting," the manager's voice abruptly reverberated throughout the office. It is required of everyone. In fifteen minutes, please assemble in the meeting room.
Eva’s heart skipped a beat. Was this their chance to make an impression or just another test of their endurance? She and Sela made their way to the meeting room, finding seats in the last row.
As the staff began to fill the room, whispers filled the air. “The new CEO is here to meet us,” someone murmured. The weight of anticipation grew thicker, but the CEO’s speech was surprisingly inspirational, easing some of Eva’s nurvesness.
Eva
Sela murmured next to me, "I can not see his face," I paid close attention to the speech. "Can you?"
"Not really," I said in a remorseful murmur.
He started to go down the rows while the CEO spoke on, and finally I actually saw him. My heart almost stopped.
"Is Alex there?" I thought as my heartbeat accelerated. Even though his looks had changed, his blue eyes were still recognizable as the deep ocean eyes I had known.
He gave me a single glance. His eyes briefly met mine, and I felt as though time had stopped and I was motionless. He looked aside hastily, but my gaze would not go away. My thoughts were racing, recalling the Alex I used to know—the one I had made a concerted effort to forget.
Following the conclusion of the meeting,
When the meeting ended, I hurried back to the office, trying to avoid him at all costs. Sela, noticing my sudden urgency, quickly followed behind.
“What’s going on? You look tense,” she asked, her concern evident.
“The new CEO... it’s Alex,” I replied, my voice strained.
Sela’s eyes widened. “Are you sure? Maybe you’re mistaken.”
“I’m positive. It’s him,” I confirmed.
“But how? Alex is only 24. How could he possibly be the CEO of such a massive company already? That’s incredible!” Sela said, her shock turning into admiration.
“Yeah, maybe...” I muttered, though my thoughts were elsewhere.
Sela’s expression turned mischievous. “You must be regretting breaking up with him now, huh?”
I sighed. “You know I didn’t want to break up with him. I had no choice. But seeing him again is... awkward.”
She gave me a sympathetic nod and patted my shoulder. As I leaned against the window, gazing out at the cityscape, my mind spun with questions. The boy who once whispered dreams in my ear is now commanding boardrooms. How did he rise so high? Was it luck, brilliance, or both?
“Don’t stress. Maybe he didn’t recognize you. After all, there were so many people in that room,” Sela suggested, trying to ease my worry. But I couldn’t forget the way his eyes had lingered on me for just a moment.
We returned to our work, focusing on our tasks until lunch. When we entered the canteen, Sela and I found a table, and I thought I could finally breathe for a moment. But that moment didn’t last.
“Shit,” Sela whispered, her eyes wide. “Look over there.”
I glanced up and froze. There he was—Alex. He stood with a lunch plate in hand, scanning the room for a place to sit. My stomach twisted, and I quickly turned away.
“Don’t look too long. He might recognize you,” Sela warned. I tried to shield my face, praying silently, Please don’t sit here. Please don’t sit here.
But fate had other plans. I heard footsteps approaching, and my heart sank when Alex sat down beside me. His voice sent a shiver through me.
“Long time no see, Eva,” he said, his voice calm but loaded with something deeper. I simply nodded, my eyes glued to my untouched meal, unable to meet his gaze.
Then the man next to Sela spoke up. “Eva, have you forgotten me already?”
I looked up at him, my brow furrowed in confusion.
“It’s Advert!” he said with a grin.
Suddenly, I remembered. Advert had been Alex’s friend back in the day, always the jokester of the group. But now, his features were sharper, more refined.
“Oh my God, Advert! I didn’t recognize you! You’ve changed so much!” I smiled, genuinely surprised.
Advert turned to Sela. “And who’s this?” he asked, his tone playful.
“This is my best friend, Sela,” I said, introducing them.
They exchanged greetings, though Sela, ever the introvert, smiled awkwardly before returning to her lunch. I noticed Advert’s eyes linger on her, his interest evident.
It seems like Advert is into Sela, I thought, watching him sneak glances at her while trying to keep the conversation going.
Alex, however, wasn’t as subtle. “So, Eva, what are you doing here?” he asked, trying to force a conversation.
“I’m an intern in the accounting department,” I replied, my voice steady though my heart raced with the weight of unresolved emotions.
Lunch felt like an eternity. I could feel Alex’s gaze on me the entire time, but I refused to look up. My heart was still tangled in the feelings I had buried long ago. Even after all these years, I hadn’t moved on from him. The realization made my stomach twist.
As soon as lunch ended, I hurried back to the office, hoping to avoid further interaction. Advert, on the other hand, asked Sela for her number, much to her discomfort. After some hesitation, she gave it to him, clearly unsure of how to refuse.
Later that day, as we were heading home, we saw Alex and Advert waiting by their car at the main entrance.
“What now?” I whispered to Sela. “Every time I see him, my heart races. If this keeps up, I’ll be a heart patient in no time.”
“I have no idea. They’re like gum, sticking to us,” Sela joked. We tried to walk past them, but Advert called out to us.
“Eva!” he called. There was no escape now.
“Which way are you heading?” Alex asked, offering us a ride.
I hesitated. I didn’t want to get into that car. “We’re going right,” I said.
“We’re going that way too. Let us drop you off,” Advert offered with a friendly smile. I tried to decline, but they insisted. Reluctantly, Sela and I got in.
As we drove, Alex spoke up again. “Eva, do you remember Sky?”
I felt a pang in my chest. “Yes. How could I forget her? She was my best friend.”
“She’s getting married next month,” Alex said. “She’d love to see you there. It would mean the world to her if you came.”
I hesitated. “I don’t think I can. I just started this internship. I can’t ask for time off.”
But my mind raced with memories of Sky. I had left without saying goodbye, without any explanation. Guilt gnawed at me.
Advert chimed in. “It’s on the weekend. You can manage. It’ll be like a reunion. Please come.”
After a moment, I nodded. “I’ll try.”
When we finally reached our dorm, Sela and I stepped out of the car, grateful for the escape.
As we walked away, I couldn’t shake the feeling that seeing Alex again had reopened old wounds I wasn’t ready to face.
Alex
The moment I saw Eva again, it felt like the world had stopped. I had promised myself that I would find her again, that I would make things right. And now, here she was, standing in front of me, after all these years.
I had known Eva was starting her internship at Exo Ltd, my company. I had arranged my visit for today specifically because I couldn’t wait any longer. I had to see her.
The second I entered the meeting room, I felt her presence. When our eyes met, it was like everything else faded away. She looked just as she had when we first met—those hazel eyes that I had fallen in love with, that I could never forget.
But she had changed too. There was a wall between us now, and I could feel her trying to keep her distance. Still, I knew—just as I had always known—she was the one. My mate.
Flashback
I remember the first time I saw her. Sky, my cousin, had pointed her out at school. Eva was standing by her locker, her uniform crisp, her long black hair falling over her shoulders. She had the most beautiful hazel eyes, and I couldn’t stop staring.
I linked my thoughts to Sky. “Your friend is my mate. Can you introduce me?”
Sky had smiled and agreed. From that moment, I knew I was in love with Eva. We started dating soon after, and it felt like my life was complete.
But then her father found out. He saw us together and pulled her away, forbidding her from seeing me. I tried to reach her after that, but she blocked me from everything—social media, phone calls, everything. She had cut me off completely.
My heart had shattered. I searched for her everywhere, but she had disappeared. It wasn’t until my father, the alpha of our pack, stepped in that we found her again. But when I approached her, she told me she didn’t love me anymore, that she didn’t want to be with me.
I knew she was lying. I could see it in her eyes. But she had said the words, and I had no choice but to leave.
That day, I made a silent promise to myself. I would become the man she deserved, someone worthy of her love. And when I had achieved that, I would find her again.
Present
Now, seeing her again, I couldn’t help but feel the same longing I had felt back then. She was avoiding me, but I wasn’t going to let her slip away this time.
When we met in the canteen, I tried to start a conversation, but she barely spoke to me. It hurt, but I understood. She needed time.
But I wasn’t going to give up. Not on her.
As we dropped them off at their dorm, I invited her to Sky’s wedding. It was the perfect opportunity to see her again, to talk to her. She hesitated, but she agreed to try.
I love her. I always have. And I know she still loves me, even if she’s trying to hide it. This time, I won’t let her go. I’ll wait as long as it takes.
Because I know, deep down, she’s mine. And I’m hers.
