"Some people read books. I descended bodily into this one like Brick descending into Dom-mode—with purpose, care, and absolutely no tolerance for virginal uncertainty. Let’s get this straight: Kat wanted to lose her virginity. Brick wanted to avoid anyone who reminded him of emotional vulnerability. And the universe said, “LMAO, what if we trap you two in forced proximity, sexual frustration, and feelings you can’t name without crying in the shower?” What unfolded was one of the most deliciously awkward, emotionally loaded, and sexually-charged slow burns I’ve read in a hot minute. 🍑 What worked like magic: Brick. BRICK. He’s what happens when a dominant, emotionally constipated goalie gets a redemption arc and a heart. Daddy in the sheets, therapy-needs in the streets. I ate up every scene with this grumpy marshmallow like it was hockey season and I was starved for goals (and orgasms). Kat’s arc was a full transformation. From “please someone let me live” to “no actually, I deserve pleasure, respect, and a life outside of my brother’s angry biceps.” Queen behavior. Morgan, aka best friend of the YEAR. Give this woman her own book. Give her a sword. Give her JD and let her tame that feral man. The spicy scenes? Tender dominance done right. Praise kink, boundaries, aftercare — hello?? 50 Shades could NEVER. Brick communicates, leads, and checks in while still making you blush like a sinner in church. 🧂What mildly salted my popcorn (in the best way): I now want to fight every one of Brick’s ex-girlfriends. You judged this man because he… what? Likes to be in control in bed? Wants clarity and consent? Hello? It’s called responsible dominance! JD was perfectly loathsome — entitled, smug, alpha-hole in a fratboy package. But somewhere deep down? The chaotic romance potential between him and Morgan has me chewing glass and manifesting book 3. (You see it. Don’t lie.) Final verdict: This isn’t just a romance. It’s a tale of reclaiming agency, discovering your body and your boundaries, and finding out that the growly guy with bedroom kinks might also be the softest man alive when it comes to your emotional safety. Kat and Brick? OTP. Throw in spicy hockey vibes, found family, and some serious emotional healing, and I’m SOLD. I laughed. I blushed. I screamed at JD. I highlighted Brick’s dialogue like it was sacred scripture. This series is not just pucking around anymore. Book 3 better bring helmets, because I’m not emotionally stable enough for what’s next."
Super cute hockey romance
"Kat and Brick feature in this book, 2 of an awesome series. I read it at every opportunity. Tropes Enemies to lovers Her first time Controlling parents and sibling This author writes fluidly and with great depth of characters with their own backstory which I like in a book. Her parents and brother are controlling and whereas I was frustrated with them, I have to say the author highlights some important topics with this element. It's a series I am addicted to and cannot wait to read book three. Kat is such a beautiful person and her best friend is fiercely independent and a good influence on Kat trying to sway her to stand up for herself more. I'm so glad that Kat found her way. And Brick, the swoony hockey player. What can I say. He's a good man and loved him, his care for her was exemplary. Definitely a hockey romance for your list Kerry Kennedy Author "

Wish the other hockey players didn't judge him so badly about his private kinks though. Can't wait for the next book. Well done to the author, this series is one of my favourites on Inkitt 💓"
